Wow thank you so much!!! I really love all of these dog names! Thank you these are so thoughtful and creative. 😊. I am going to think over the names, thank you so much!!

I am like 3pebs3, I tried to go with names that I associate with happy things! For some reason my happy “thing” was movies/tv characters, so most of mine are tv related. To share a few:

Boys-
-Sully (Monsters Inc. (and actually someone recently joined with the name James P Sullivan and it made me laugh))
-Booth (character from TV show Bones)
-Lance/Lancelot (also a character from Bones)
-Chandler (Chandler Bing from Friends)

Girls-
-Ellie (no inspiration from Tv, but I met a cute corgi named Ellie and she was amazing)
-Poppy (from the movie Trolls)

Either gender
Remy (Ratatouille)
Beckett (last name of character from TV show Castle)

My litter theme is cowboys/cowgirls, and while it’s not required that the call name is directly associated with the registered name, I love love love when people have great ones that are associated. If it’s too hard to make them link up, it’s also fun to just come up with two names!
I’m trying to hold out on deciding until I see my puppy on pickup day in case one name just feels better, but I’m getting tired of scheduling all my vet appointments for Puppy [Last Name], so I might just have to commit beforehand 😂

Wow thank you so much as well! I really appreciate how everyone it taking time to reply! I love all your name ideas, love the TV/movie character-related names. I am going to think over all these names, they are all so great! I think when I meet my puppy, even if I have a prepared name I am just going to go with whatever one seems the best. But I love to prepare because waiting is so hard! Oooh, what a fun theme. If I was trying to connect the names to your theme, I would do Lassie for girl and Dylan or maybe Austin for boy. Actually, Lassie is on my list for girl dog names what a coincidence, (lol). LOL, well when you get your puppy scheduling all those vet appointments will be worth it! :)

It’s fun to brainstorm, and it helps pass the time! And you might find that you end up disliking some names after a while so it’s nice to have time to really think about them. As I’ve gotten closer to puppy pickup, I’ve narrowed down my choices, but I do like to look back at some of the originals to see if I still like them. I will probably consult my original list if/when I get a second dog!

Lassie, Dylan, and Austin are all great names! Those really fit in with the cowboy theme! I’m sure you’ll have a great list to choose from by the time you bring your puppy home!

Yeah, for sure! I will be making a list and when the time of getting my puppy gets closer, I will start to narrow it down. For now, I just wanted some ideas and everyone gave such good advice so thank you all! I think I am going to add all the names that everyone suggested to my list. Thank you 3Pebs3, Coastal Pup, and goldielynn for giving me names to add to my list. And thank you rosegold, Dunmar, Carolina Mom, SeaGlass925, and kh79 for your replies/advice! I am going to be making a list of names and when I meet/get my puppy I will start to narrow them down and eventually choose one. Thank you everyone, you all have been very helpful! 😊

Yeah, I like those names and how they go along with the theme. Feel free to use them if you want to! Whatever you end up choosing I am sure it will be great though! Thank you, I am sure I will have a good list by that time. :)

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to say first off thank you for welcoming to this forum. I really enjoy being a part of it. 😊

Secondly, I was wondering what your top 2 puppy names (boy and girl) were? Currently, thinking Casper for boy and Willow for girl. Not 100% sure about the girl name and open for suggestions. Pretty sure about Casper for the boy name, but I would love to hear your name idea! :)
You may consider Willa for a girl name if you like willow. Love Casper btw

Our first 5 . . . . . (all female)
Copper Penny
Dusty Penny
Dakota Penny
Kimber Prairie Rose
Ruby Prairie Rose

Our current Golden Girl . . .
Piper Rose

Piper was Sage for a few days but we decided that roll off the tongue as easy for us - although I still like the name.

Our list also had . . . . Gypsy - River - Scarlett - Chamois - Cinder - Reba - Xena - Freya - Reyna - Tessa - Greta - Scout - Curry - Juno - Maxwell

We always had our favorite 6 in mind when we got our pup and then by the time we got home we knew which one "fit" her.
I've always wanted a Reba - but it just hasn't fit any one yet !

I'm a big fan of Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" novels, which are set in Scotland. Since that's where the GR breed originated, it only seemed reasonable to name our dogs after my favorite Scottish characters from the books. So, Malcolm was our first Golden. Our second is named Hamish. I also have a black Lab named Fergus. I agree that you should choose names that have happy associations! I love the names Casper and Willow, btw. I know at least two very sweet Willows but haven't met a Casper yet.

names that you like - even if others don't.
This! there will always be someone who likes your backup name instead of the plan A name, but it’s not their decision. If they like it, they can name their dog that name. Go with whatever name you want, it’s your puppy!

Thanks for the advice everyone! I will take it all to consideration and in the end name my puppy the name I want! I will have a couple of names and when I meet the puppy I will choose the one that fits best. :)

For me, I usually had a few names I liked but it wasn't until I met the dog did I know which one fit or suited them.
