The breeder told me that the Vet will be doing a C-section to the mom due to the large litter. Is C-section common in GR? I will be buy a puppy from the litter and this should not be of any concern, right?

My dogs have free whelped up to 10 pups. A c section is not a reason to not get a pup from the litter. Some vets like to do c sections on big litters.

It's not common but not unheard of. I know my girl's breeder is doing a c-section on a dog next week, because with her first litter she had a lot of problems because the pups were larger and instead of risking an emergency one decided to book it and be safe. That way she doesn't loose any pups hopefully.

It shoudln't make any major difference with the pups at all.

Scully had a C-section with Darby's litter, it was large and the first puppy got stuck in the birth canal and died. :( Fortunately the other's were delivered fine. Scully was able to do the proper "motherly" thing and two years later had her last litter via normal delivery. It shouldn't effect the puppies.

Lucy was born via c-section in a situation similar to what Muddypaws described. She was one of 12 pups. One died in the process

Lucy turned out fine. You'll have to ask Arcane about how her mummy did. ;)

A breeder choosing to do a C-section due to litter size should not be a concern. When breeders just as a matter of routine and ease for themselves chose to do C's on ALL their litters is a much bigger concern to me.
