I noticed in a few threads that you live close to Calgary. My family and I are looking for a reputable breeder close by, and I have heard good things about Auburnmist. Can you recommend any good breeders in the area? I tired to PM you but it looks like there are restrictions for new users on this forum. You can email me back at [email protected]
I'm in a little town outside Salmon Arm, BC. Its basically 1/2 way between Calgary and Vancouver.
I'm trying to find somebody that will handle Paige for me that weekend, but so far, no luck. But if nothing else, I want to enter her in obedience and get a title on her. She has her CGN, but its unofficial and we'd like something that really means something (maybe). Of course my preference for her though is to get some points and get her Championship. She's been quite late maturing, but is starting to come together, so who knows. But then, there are also a lot of amazing dogs that end up at that show as well. If nothing else, I could take her in myself too, but my hand at grooming isn't very good. Oh what fun! LOL. But I love that RD has the capability to have rally... they had a HUGE entry last fall for the Saturday trial, so maybe we'll play with that too. BJ
The WCOBC is holding their agility trial the first weekend of April. If you like, I can forward the email to you. But of course the spring trial is the same weekend as the Red Deer show, and I think I'm going to go back for that (need to get the girl some points!). Maybe the fall trial for us. I'd love to see Storee if you're coming out this direction (Kelowna is about 1 1/2 hrs south of me).
I've printed out all the responses so far for her. They dont have internet, but she sounded like she was going to give raw a try. It cant hurt to try. I'm going to go for a visit tonight again and see if the ear stuff is helping clear that up.
I haven't done much with Agility with Paige... I was hoping for maybe this fall, but we'll see. We've been busy with obedience and a bit of conformation so haven't really done much of anything. And I'd like to try for Syd's AGI, but wont ask her for that kind of effort until her weight's where I want it. BJ
Neighbor, friend, employee, adopted relative.... take a pick!
So yep, see the 'girls' all the time, not as much since I'm on mat leave but we still get over there (or at least I do) often enough. I've been 'Auntie' to them all.
I have a River grandpuppy too - Storee is out of Next and Push. She might be ready for agility this summer, we'll see how it goes with her. If she's doing well we might be coming your way for some trials.
Oh for the allergy thing, I swear by raw... if your friends want to contact me that's fine too.
Lori and Brian's neighbour, you say? So, you get to see their dogs all the time then? Lucky you! It's funny! I fell in love with Cker 6 yrs ago or so. Right around the time that Guess had her litter by River. I really really liked her, but when Lori said she had bred Guess to this boy from the states named River, I went digging. That was actually the reason I fell in love with River. The timing wasn't right though and I lived in Red Deer. And then Sydney came along about a year later. But when it came time for another puppy, River was still in my sights. But instead of a River puppy, I got a River grandpuppy.
They had Next a couple years ago to an agility trial that I had Sydney competing in. I had a funny feeling when I saw her that it was one of their dogs, but it wasn't confirmed until I talked to another lady that was there with them and had a couple of their dogs as well. Beautiful, beautiful dogs! BJ
LOL, I enjoyed your description of a border collie waiting for the next toss of the tennis ball! Border collies are actually my favorite breed followed closely by golden retrievers, and as long as I am able, I plan on always having one of each (more if I had the land), as they seem to do well as siblings (at least for me anyway).
Just wanted to say that I also have a border collie that has NEVER wanted to stop retrieving the ball (he's almost 11 now) and really never wanted to socialize with other dogs, but now I don't throw the ball the entire time we are at the dog park so he is force to mingle
