Dogs and gardening - what to plant?

I'm a huge fan of Morning Glory plants - I've had them on my fence every summer. This year I have a puppy that likes to eat things off of the ground, so I'm a little more concerned about what I am planting.

I was perusing this list here of plants that have some sort of effect on dogs from mild to severe. There are tons of plants on this list I've seen in my mom's garden growing up with two dogs... so now I'm confuzzled.

Does anyone else have experience with this, or any more knowledge than what I could find with a quick google search? Has anyone planted Morning Glories successfully with a dog - without having to watch said dog every second he's outside in the backyard?

Or if there are any big no-no's I should be aware of... that would be good too. Though most of the backyard is veggies anyway (and not even onions or garlic).

Thanks in advance for the feedback! :)

As far as the morning glorys, I have a few plants that are on the list, aloe and other stuff... Morning glorys seems like they're not that serious, the seeds aren't good though.

Mostly I think alot of the sympotms they list on the plats is if the dog injests quite a bit. Riley used to eat all the plants on the ground but she has stopped. She doesn't bother our Roses, we also have spider plants which are safe. Just try to discouage it and he will get the idea, goldens are so smart :)

Mitch must already know about Azaleas, he is doing his darnest to kill one of mine, actually the only one they can reach. Hailey never paid any attention to the azaleas or Rhodies, but Mitch must stop and water my beautiful white azalea every time he leaves the house. Hopefully it will survive the mitch attack! :crossfing

I have at least 200 Hostas growing in my yard. You can do a "Google" search on Pet Friendly Gardens. Always check the poisonous plant list with the Pet friendly plant list just in case any errors have been made.

Hostas can cause gastric issues and you will sometimes find them on the toxic plant list.

Foxglove (digitalis) made Tucker very sick. It could have killed him.

Umm, plant some rocks and dirt, because that's all that's going to be alive come winter anyway. I put all my pretty stuff in the front yard. I am taking the plunge and planting my garden in the backyard this summer. I'll let you all know how it goes.
Hostas are great and indestructible. And they're so green and fresh looking. I have them everywhere.
