So my five month old just started to have diarrhea it started a couple days ago thinking it was his food because we started feeding him canned with his dry because he was getting tired of his dry. So went back to just his dry. But it hasn't stopped. his other behaviors haven't changed. He's still energetic and eats normally and drinks normal. Just worried

Have you tried giving him canned pumpkin? That can help if it's just from switching the food. I think it sometimes takes a few days to get digestion back to normal. If it was my pup, I would try the pumpkin and a probiotic for dogs and then if it's still having diarrhea after the weekend I would go to the vet. Also if he wasn't still eating and drinking and being energetic I would go to a vet sooner.

It could still be the change in diet -- once diarrhea starts from a diet change, in can take more than reverting to the original diet to get it back under control. This is where a bland diet (boiled chicken and rice, or low fat cottage cheese and rice, or boiled hamburger and rice, etc.) can help. Get the poop normal on the bland diet, then reintroduce the original kibble. However, unless it was literally that you added the canned food and the diarrhea was immediately the next poop or 2, I would take in a stool sample to check for parasites, including giardia, just to be sure. Also, if the bland diet doesn't help or the diarrhea returns when you add the regular kibble. And obviously if the pup becomes not happy and bouncy and playful and drinking normally.

When transitioning from the breeder food to a new food, I've put a tablespoon of Diggin "Firm UP" with also contains cranberry. It's helped a lot! I don't think you necessarily have to use this product -- just adding pumpkin is the key. Make sure there is no sugar added and organic is always a plus.
