Hi everyone my adorable 13 week old puppy is in her biting stage. She is biting anything and everything. What bones/toys do you recommend to help them teething and keep them biting/chewing for a long period of time.

thanks in advance!

Not a toy, but ice cubes/chips tend to be a favorite for teething puppies.

For long-term chewing it’ll have to taste good. I think 13 weeks is a little young for most bones, but I’ve heard a lot of people give bully sticks. I’d be interested to know if anyone here gives bones to their puppies.

Do your dogs actually chew on the Kong itself? I bought a bunch hoping Beckett would chew on them instead of the furniture and whatnot but so far he only cares about the snacks inside- as soon as he’s done, he doesn’t give it a second look. I have yet to see him really chew it, but I’m assuming dogs actually do or they wouldn’t have made a Super Chewer line....maybe it just takes some time?

OP, my guy also likes the Himalayan cheese sticks. They are advertised as an 8/10 for hardness, 1 being cookies and 10 being antlers. He gets multiple chew sessions out of one cheese stick.

I too am on the Kong train vs the harder products. FYI, if you have a sensitive tummy pup like my Archie (big sigh), who can only eat the kibble that he’s on, you can make a mush of kibble and water, stuff in Kong and then freeze. Or, put some loose kibble in the Kong and use the mush as a plug, then freeze.

I tried the frozen washcloth, but by the time I stood up he had shredded it completely with his razor sharp teeth! The Chilly Bone is the same idea, but it is heavy canvas with a sponge inside and has held up for quite a few sessions. They claim “hours of fun”, but of course depending on your weather it is only good until it “melts” and looses its “chill”. When it gets to that point, I pick it up, rinse it off, let the sponge absorb water, stick in a ziplock and pop back into the freezer for next time.
