Gus has finally figured out that he can get 2 tennis balls in his mouth, and he is unstoppable now! He is so happy too when he gets both of them in his mouth, he just runs and prances around. We got one of those Chuck Its not too long ago, but it wasn't working out very well because Charlie Brown would get the ball, but as soon as he'd drop it, Gus would swoop in and steal the ball. And Gus would rather play Keep Away than Fetch. So we started playing with two tennis balls, and when Gus would run off with one, we'd throw the other to Charlie Brown. Then Gus would run after that one, and we'd get the one Gus stole first. And over and over...But now he's realized that he can have both balls! He can't always get them both in his mouth, he's only done it 3 or 4 times. I guess when that happens, we'll have to move up to 3 Ball Fetch :) I will see if I can get some pictures and/or videos later today when we go back out.

Keep away neighbor

I have had to use two balls with Daisy and her Chuck It. We have a nonfetching neighbor dog who likes to steal the ball when Daisy does her good job of dropping the ball for me. Daisy has gotten two ball in her mouth once. One was a racket ball (inside ball because it is easy to keep clean) and a tennis ball (which she snuck into the house). It was pretty cute, she always trys to get a bunch of her toys in her mouth.

My boy is a master at this. He picked it up sometime this summer when playing with his brother across the street (he's not the best at sharing). He holds them front to back, so to the untrained eye it looks like he only has one. I get a kick out of it when he walks up to some unsuspecting visitor... they're always SHOCKED to see the second ball!

Our tennis balls don't last long here, either....
For Monster's birthday I bought him a tire rope toy (his favorite...or, second favorite, i guess) a really expensive KONG bone and treats and two tennis balls and a few other toys...(Maybe this is why I'm broke now?) Anyway, I opened the treats and put a few in the bag and let him open it himself (just a regular grocery bag) and, I figured he would eat the treat and then go for the tire toy...no, forget the treats, forget the expensive toys....he took the tennis ball and ran under the bed...because he knows that somehow they all magically disappear after he's had them for a few hours. (He always takes them and hides under the bed when I take out his toys that he has limited access to...like the ones that are too squeaky.)
It took him maybe two hours before he'd ruined the ball. I put the other one away for another day...when I did take the second ball out, I turned my back for a little while and forgot about it, and next thing I know, that one is ruined, too.

We used to play ball like that with our two pups. And then Shelby started grabbing onto Beau and not letting go of his tail to get him to give the balls up. So we changed to Beau outside first and when he stopped and went inside then we played ball with Shelby. It works alot better now.
