This is what I was given recently. See below Genetic testing. I am going to call this company and see of this is even real I have not asked for OFA clearance as of yet.
The one attachment only has a call name. No registration number, no actual DOB, no registered name. It's basically useless and I wouldn't trust it.

Thank you Blazen for pointing that out. I sent to the company for authentication, no that it will make any difference at this point. I have also read that Pennhip and FCI are not AKC recognized. Can anyone confirm this? If that the case then how can one advertise an AKC registered dog?

Basically, I would like to get all my facts in order to present so as to justify why I want my deposit back. Gonna at least try anyways.

Boy this has been an education that for which I am grateful!

I don’t know what AKC recognized health testing means, since AKC is just a registry, but your best argument likely would be to state that they have not proven that their dogs have the health tests specified by the Golden Retriever Club of America’s Code of Ethics, which outlines what clearances each breeding pair should have. For reference:

GRCA Code of Ethics advises the following health certifications for breeding:

  • Hip clearance from OFA or PennHip at 24 months or older.
  • Elbow clearance from OFA at 24 months or older.
  • Heart clearance from a cardiologist (not practitioner) at 12 months or older.
  • Eye clearance from an ophthalmologist within 12 months of breeding, and continuing annually for life.
  • GRCA Code of Ethics - Golden Retriever Club of America

It appears all the Katian dogs eyes are out of date- I'd guess with a history of eye exams they are sitting on a table and haven't been sent in.
There are multiple threads here on Dogwood Springs- enough negatives especially around eyes reported here that I would inquire as to who is being bred and check those dogs individually.
All of my dogs (Katian) are up to date on eye exams. Anyone can reach out to me directly for proof. I attempted this fall to submit the eye reports electronically to OFA - but apparently failed lol (my computer skills aren’t as good as my dog raising skills lol. I need to just accept defeat and send them snail mail!

I figured they were done and on the table! I tried the online thing myself once and now I just make a photocopy and then mail like I know will work. It's a bitch getting old..

If you need help, let me know. I've gotten pretty good at scanning, uploading, and submitting them through their online portal.

I have just emailed directly to Erica?
They have a neat little road map when you log in on the website. It walks you through the steps, you pay online, results are posted in 2 business days. Just finally put Eevee’s eye exam from September up that way and the echo from this past Saturday is already posted.

Guess a lot has changed since I last sent eyes in a couple years ago.... I've just emailed and then followed up with a phone call to pay over the phone.

I found this site after I had already put down a deposit with a Rockin B Farms.

I’ve read through some of the posts on here and realized how much I didn’t know! After learning about the clearances, I specifically asked for the main 4 from the breeder. What she sent were the docs from a vet in Ukraine that were done before the sire was 2 years old.

So I asked if she had the hips, elbows, and heart done in the US after he turned 2 and below is her response.
“We redo the males in Pennhip. This lady that we buy our dogs from has been doing it for over 40 years and all of her stuff is what it is. The FCI that she does is just like Pennhip. Everything has been exactly what she tells us. These dogs cost over 22,500 to get here. We have always had excellent results with them”

Other red flags - she didn’t ask anything about my family or the living situation the dog would be in. She doesn’t have the female listed on her site at all (the other females are) and the only thing she sent me (after I asked) was a screenshot from K9data.

I think I know the answer already, but would y’all be comfortable with a puppy coming from them with only this info provided? Or should I just bid farewell to my $500 deposit and look for a more responsible breeder? (PS I’m located in West Texas)

I have made a down payment as well but when I have seen how many litters she is having my stomach feeling wasn't good ... sane here she never ask me about living situation or anything else. I stopped with her even loosing my money but I don't want to support a kind of puppy mill .😥

Welcome to the Forum! I think you made a good decision. We’re happy to help you find a more reputable breeder. Make good use of the search field for the forum to find many good resources, and/or start a new thread and we’ll see if we can point you in the right direction!

Someone just brought this post to my attention:
I know this post was done many years back, but I want to let everyone know that this is not true. Please visit our website, all of our dogs have had their clearances done. I mainly do Pennhip and some OFA. The last few years Pennhip has been more accurate on hips. It’s done by a measurement and not just someone looking at the x-ray. We also do all of our dogs genetic testing from Pawprint. I do not post every clearance on our website, but can send it to you personally. This is because I’ve had people steal my clearances off my website to use for their own personal use. If anyone has questions, I would appreciate them to reach out to me personally. Also go to our website and you can see it for yourself our clearances.
It also only takes a few minutes research to realize that English lines actually are a thing:)) Thanks, Elizah

What this means is that it's easier to lead people by the nose if you keep them blindfolded until you've got them committed.

Nobody needs to post clearances on their websites. OFA will post them if you send them in - including pennhip. If people wanted to steal clearances (whatever that means), they'd have a heyday on OFA LOL. IE, that does not make sense.

Your dogs are imported from Eastern Europe.

Your statement about stealing clearances off your website is ridiculous at best.
OFA posts all clearances and would be a better source for stolen clearances which is impossible.

And guess what Penn Hip uses xrays so board certified orthopedic vets are reviewing xrays for laxiity. OFA uses xrays so board certified orthopedic vets are reviewing them for structural deviations from breed standard. Funny that you don't like OFA for hips but use them for elbows.

Breeders should be following the GRCA COE which you apparently do not. OFA Hips and Elbows are done at 2 or older, yearly eyes by a board certified ophthalmogist (which you do not do) and cardiac clearance by a board certified cardiologist which you do not do.

Yes, I have had multiple people try to steal our clearances. Just like someone took these off of our website without our permission. This is illegal and I have asked you to take this down and nobody has responded.

Does anyone on this website ever have anything good to say about breeders? I can’t find one post. As you can read my text above, yes clearances have been stolen. Just like above. I gave no one permission to take these clearances off my website. I would ask that you take them down like I asked three years ago. It’s illegal to take stuff off of other people’s websites and use them. Hope you have a good holiday!
