My puppy has sudden swelling of her eyes

I seem to not be having the best luck with our new pup these days! Yesterday night I noticed Willow’s left eye was swollen. Eventually, the right started swelling too. We called the emergency vet and they said to give her Benadryl and bring her in if the swelling got worse. We’re thinking it’s some kind of reaction but I have no clue from what. We watched her all night and it did go down. In the morning her eyes were almost back to normal.

Tonight around 11 she woke up and I saw that both her eyes were swollen again and she was rubbing at them. I gave her another Benadryl. I will definitely be calling her normal vet on Monday, but I’m curious if it’s a thing for the swelling to come back after going down from Benadryl...
Also wondering if there are certain plants that are known to cause reactions in dogs, specifically goldens? The weather has been cold/cool around here so I have no idea what it could be! I don’t see her itching anywhere else and her mouth doesn’t seem to be swollen, just her eyes. Here is a picture of her swollen vs. how she looks normally.

I would have your pup checked out right away, it's possible it's an allergic reaction to something or it could be something more serious.

It could be a reaction to any cleaners you use in your house, chemicals in the yard, your pup may have been bitten by an insect or stung.

Here is a list of toxic plants-

There are indoor and outdoor plants that are toxic.
Thank you!! She isn’t vomiting or having diarrhea so I don’t think she ate anything....we also haven’t changed anything with cleaners or treats/food. Maybe a bite. Could an allergy be developed and cause a reaction that sudden? So baffling to me.

Does she sleep on a bed or towel or blanket that you wash with scented detergent? She may be reacting to that (since it came back). Or grass, if it came back after she was outdoors. My dog had a very similar reaction when we stayed in a (cheap) hotel one time and she was playing on the hotel bed with her dog pal. Her eyes got swollen up, too. We figured out really quickly that it was whatever they used to disinfect or clean the bed spread, so we just removed it fully from the bed and balled it up and put it in the corner.
I also have really sensitive skin and break out in hives/itchy skin if I use scented detergent! I’ve used All free and clear for years now! But that’s a good idea. I will keep that in mind if it happens again somewhere else.

Looks like an allergic reaction. My puppy ate a bee (which stung the inside of his mouth) and he swelled up like that within minutes.

Give benadryl. 1mg per pound of body weight. (Each pill is 20 mg.) Dogs take much more benadryl than humans do. The dose for an adult male is 4 pills.
Thank you! I’ve been giving her a dose about every 8 hours. The skin around her eyes are still pink but they went down again. I’m going to guess they’ll swell again tonight. I’m kind of hoping it is a bug bite or sting so it’s not something she keeps coming in contact with. 😬
