At home Rooney is never a breath away, but when we go on outings he's fully independent. I enjoy him wanting to be near me all the time, but there have been a few 'hands full of laundry' moments where he's on top of me and I'd rather he not, lol.

My favorite moments though are when he waits right outside the bathroom door when I'm showering. As soon as I open the door he's placed with a big smile on his face ready to lick my legs.

Maximus is the same! He’s fully independent on his own, but just likes to be a part of whatever is going on when we are at home. Such a sweetie.

My girl at certain times during the day when I'm home she will follow me everywhere, and sleep next to me on the couch when I'm in here doing work on the computer or watching TV (I'm currently laid up with a broken foot) So yeah she sure is a mama's girl.

 

Totally Golden! We call the velcro dogs. You are the center of his world, he will follow you to the ends of the earth, lol

 

Both Kora and Tessa are like this with me! I personally love it...except for when I want a few minutes alone in the bathroom!

 

Your thread gave me a big smile!. My boy used to follow my hubby everywhere, even try and get in the bath with him, he did get in the shower with me on more than one occasion, it was a little cozy I should mention!!!

 

My girl will follow me into the bathroom if i don't shut the door the right way she will butt it open and invite herself in lol she is Velcro dog for sure I wouldn't want it any other way that's for sure!!!

 

My last 2goldens, Honey and Sophie would bump the door open to the bathroom (only truly shut it when we have company) to watch me, and when in shower, look around the shower curtain. I am an Irish Setter I rescued that stuck so close to me hubby called him "Sandra's Shadow"

 

I can't remember the last time I peed alone. (Sigh...)

 

It can be dangerous in the bathroom human! Must have a chaperone even when brushing your teeth!

 

My Wally is the same! He's only 10 weeks old but will wake up from a nap to follow me from the living room to the kitchen (literally 20 feet and still within sight) and flop down again to nap 4 feet from me. Then he gets back up to follow me back to the living room - it's sooo sweet but I almost feel bad for going to get a glass of water, I know he'll go with me!

 

I love this thread! Typical velcro goldens! My girl April is rarely further than 2 feet from me-and usually pretty much on top of me (50lb lap dog), lol! I can be sitting on the couch with her curled up beside me and move across the room to play our piano (literally 6 ft across the room) and she has to jump off the couch and lay at my feet! The only time she might wander further away is outside when we go on horseback rides through the woods-at that point she is running like a crazy woman in huge circles through the underbrush having a ball!-But even then, she still comes back to "check-in" periodically. April also likes to be picked up and held, like literally carried around as if she were still an 8 week old pup. Of course, this doesn't happen very often or for very long because I can only handle holding a 50lb dog so long, but she always has this smug look of utter contentment when she is being held! I have always had girl goldens, but I hear from others that the boys tend to be even more velcro-I can't even picture what more velcro than April must look like! I love my velcro goldens-hard to imagine how dull life would be without my little shadow! I also had to include a picture of how workouts typically go with April!

 

Rukie is beside the bed in the morning (gets too hot to stay on the bed all night). The second I lift my head even an inch to see the clock he launches onto the bed and flings himself across me for morning cuddles. I think he wants to say, "I missed you so much while you were sleeping"

 

Sounds exactly like my current Charlie and my previous Buddy. Follows me whereever I go. If I'm at the kitchen sink, he lies on my feet. Sometimes it can be hard to gets things done, but for the most part, it is adorable and a wonderful part of owning a Golden.

 

I always thought everything i did around the house (EVERYTHING) was boring but when golden retrievers joined the family, i suddenly learned that everything is actually fascinating. I love that they want to be so close. The first time I came home from work and went in the bathroom, I suddenly heard crying at the door...that was the beginning of the must watch EVERYTHING scenario.

 

Hahahah I love that this thread has taken off so much! And so happy to hear other people’s goldens do this too. I don’t know who to reply to first. They are so funny and lovable.

The most funny thing is how if they can’t be right next to you or near you for a second, they look like they’ve been persecuted. Haha. So dramatic sometimes!

My little land shark is the same way. It almost makes you feel bad to get up to even go pee if she’s sleeping because she will jump awake and follow. It’s even funnier to watch her try to decide if she has to stay by me or follow my husband

 

Well at least you know he really is a Golden Retriever. My two follow me everywhere.

 

What a cutie!! and what a cute post. Leo follows me everywhere he will always plop right next to me even if its for one second and i have to go get something in the next room and come right back. I love it!! I think its funny though that he doesnt do that with my husband he mostly just lays around. Must be because he knows I spoil him more

Yup. Mine does the same. Glued to my side. She will actually walk through my legs at times. Always under my feet. And yes even onto the bathroom.

 

My 2 1/2 yr old boy follows me everywhere (anywhere) and likes to sleep next to (actually in-between) us at night, with one of us holding his paw and if one of us doesn't, he will put a front paw on one of our hands. I happen to really like the fact that he, like most all Goldens, is a "people" dog and wants to be part of everything. Can it become bothersome at times, yes. Would I want an aloof dog? NO! I would have a cat if I wanted a pet that wasn't really interested in being a part of my daily routine and underfoot all the time.

 

Yes I agree with you, goldens are the sweetest pets ever and so is mine. He follows me everywhere, I really enjoy spending time with him.

 

Goldens are the sponge cake. In addition to them, I also have English Spaniel Cockers which are the strawberry on top of the cake. You are lucky that at least you can roam freely in the house. I can hardly reach any destination at home with those tails in between my legs.I Feel like a soccer player most of the time specialized in advancedn feints tricks not to step over them and fall down. Me against the ninja team!!! Or like a Godmother with multi bodyguards of each races & colours... Italian, English, American, Türkish Gang and if I also adopt from China, the mafia team will be complete.
