Is this Golden Retriever breeder ethical? Looking for second opinions!

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to adopt a Golden Retriever puppy near Austin, TX, and I’ve come across a breeder that seems reputable based on my research. They have a professional website, good reviews, and they appear to have well-cared-for dogs. The breeder is Southern Goldens in College Station TX.

However, there’s one thing that has me questioning a bit: Instead of offering in-person visits to meet the puppies, this breeder mainly sends videos and pictures of the puppies for potential adopters to view. Is this normal? From what I’ve read, it’s pretty common for breeders to do in-person visits, but I’m not sure if that’s the case here or if it’s just a personal choice.

Before I move forward, I just wanted to ask for some second opinions. Any experiences with this breeder or advice would be really appreciated!

Also, if anyone knows of any ethical Golden Retriever breeders near Austin or in the surrounding areas, feel free to share your recommendations. I want to make sure I’m going through a reputable and responsible breeder.

That makes sense, I can definitely understand a breeder wanting to be cautious and protect both themselves and their puppies. I was actually looking through the Ethical Breeder List on the Golden Retriever Forum (https://www.goldenretrieverforum.com/threads/usa-ethical-breeder-list.526380/post-7946782), and I noticed that Southern Goldens wasn’t listed there. That made me start second-guessing things a little, which is why I wanted to ask for some second opinions before moving forward.
