My old boy who died a couple of years ago was named Rolly. He was the biggest puppy in the litter by far and crazy for food from the very beginning. A friend's daughter who came to play with the litter named him for the chubby puppy in 101 Dalmations - Roly (like Roly Poly) who was always saying "Mom, I'm hungry!". I did not plan to keep him but my son, who was 12 at the time, kept pleading and hiding him when people came to look at puppies. We did end up keeping him - not to breed but as a pet. He was always such a wonderful character - and always obsessed with food of any kind. Here is a picture of him being endlessly patient with Abby when she was a puppy. Such a wonderful, sweet boy.

I knew I wanted a name with a meaning and that would fit the dog personality or linked to a constelation/star (that I really like). In the begining I was setting for Cassi (from Cassiopeia), but some how didint sound right! And I was concerned that it would be mistaken with "assi" (sit in French). So I kept on looking...

I also like a lot the Celtic folklore and eventually I ran into Pixie, which are misschiveous faries! What a perfect name for my little mischevious fur ball :) And it fits her very well (sometime too well :p)

Wow l love some of the stories! :D

I wanted a dog, my manfriend wanted one but he didn't want one as much as I did (I think anyway because he was really happy with our coonie who we got 5 months before getting our goldie) so before we even picked up Rocky we were on the phone one day whilst I was at work and after telling him a whole bunch of names I said Rocky because he loves the films and the character and we had had a Rocky marathon a couple of weeks before that...he loved it. We picked him up and it turned out that his dad's name is Rocky as well.

Renny

There was another link back in December 2012 about how our Goldens got their names, so I copied my post to here:

When I rescued "Terence" from our local shelter back on 10/19/12, I certainly wasn't going to call him Terence! So I renamed him "Renny".

At the time I didn't even know if "Renny" was a real name. So I looked it up, and sure enough this is what I found on one site:

Irish Meaning:
The name Renny is an Irish baby name. In Irish the meaning of the name Renny is: Mighty.
Latin Meaning:
The name Renny is a Latin baby name. In Latin the meaning of the name Renny is: To rise again.
French Meaning:
The name Renny is a French baby name. In French the meaning of the name Renny is: To rise again.

SoulUrge Number: 5 People with this name have a deep inner desire for travel and adventure, and want to set their own pace in life without being governed by tradition.

Expression Number: 4 People with this name tend to be orderly and dedicated to building their lives on a solid foundation of order and service. They value truth, justice, and discipline, and may be quick-tempered with those who do not. Their practical nature makes them good at managing and saving money, and at building things in the material world. Because of their focus on order and practicality, they may seem overly cautious and conservative at times.

I love how his name means "To rise again" since I rescued him. :)

Renny certainly is "mighty"! He's quite strong, enjoys riding in the car and going on "adventures"! Not sure yet about how "orderly" or "disciplined" or "frugal" he is, but I guess I'll find out in time! ;) :D

When we decided to get another dog, we had just lost our Maggie May, 13 year old Cocker! I knew I wanted a Golden and my goal was\is to eventually do therapy with her! I also didn't want a common name, so I started a list with tons of names, I went through and crossed off the most popular names first, then got on the computer and started researching the names left. We settled on Sage for a few reasons, Sage is a healing herb and we absolutely loved the name, so Country Side's Possitive Medicine, call nameSage! Her name is so appropriate even if she never does a formal therapy visit, she has been our possitive medicine and brought not just healing to us after loosing Maggie, but joy and love. My husband is head over heals with this girl.....me too!

Rocket came from a litter with a "rock" theme.
And, I picked him up the day after the 4th of July. So, we wanted something tahtw ould fit both the litter theme, and be somewhat patriotic. Sparky was a favorite, but we couldn't use it because that's my boss's dog's name.

We came up with "Gazebo's Let's Rock it" and the call name Rocket as in "The Rocket's Red Glare" from the national anthem.

puppys name

Sasha has a little story, years ago when i was a young teenager, my granny was getting a new retiever puppy as her old dog had died, i was never allow a dog at home growing up, so my granny said i could pick from the litter, and name the dog, but he would live with her, so i choose sasha, luckily its a girls name as well, but as im thinking it may be our last dog, it was going to my choose allown, no one else had a say.
