While they do appear to be doing most of the recommended health testing from GRCA, I’d be curious to know the registered names of both parents of the litter you’re interested in, so we can double check the pairing’s clearances.

Also curious to know price, if these folks aren’t showing their dogs in confirmation, obedience, or in the field, I wouldn’t see why anyone would pay more than ~$2,000 for a puppy from them when you could find a breeder much more active in the breed community showing and proving their dogs! I have a hunch with these will be expensive pets but I could be wrong! Expensive doesn’t always mean better when seeking out a reputable breeder.
There are some great resources on this forum to find reputable breeders! Often their websites look like they’re from 1998 😂.

 

Yep they are now going for $5000 from 3500 in December!! Something definitely isn’t right.

 

Bumping to see if anyone has additional information about Golden Haven? They appear to be doing all recommended health checks, at the appropriate time, but I'd like someone more experienced than me to confirm that. Their website includes links to OFA registries for their dogs.

 

Do you have the registered names of the prospective sire and dam? If they are asking $5000 for a puppy they would have to be well above the average well bred puppy. You can get an excellent pedigree for $3800 to $4000 in NC region.

 

Not yet -- still in early days of exploring breeders and came across this breeder.

this is the second I've talked to that charges 5000. One in VA and now Golden Haven. Are there certain breeders you hight recommend? (I am also making my way through those listed on this site).

 

Try Ethos Goldens in NC, if they don't have a litter than can refer you. $5,000 for a breeder who doesn't prove their dogs in any conformation or sports venues is a no go for most of us.
