Hi, looking at 2 breeders near Saratoga NY. Anyone have input on Moose Goldens or Saratoga Goldens?
Thx.
Thx.
Thank you. Both of these breeders appear to be in the same category to me. The breeders are not following the GRCA recommendations for complete health clearances on their breeding dogs. They are doing some things but not bothering to do them all. That means they have done some research but can't be bothered to do it all as well as possible. There are not full clearances on the parents and grandparents behind the dogs, so the extra information that a breeder can use to help make good decisions about who the sire of a litter would be to provide best odds for the puppies is not there either. They do not appear to do anything with their dogs and to be honest, I wouldn't take a puppy from a breeder like this for free. If you choose to, I strongly suggest that you take out good health insurance on day one and keep it in place for at least the first few years of the dog's life. Surgery for elbow dysplasia runs about $3k per joint and the recovery is brutal. I urge you to go to grca.org and do some reading on the health clearances and breeder code of ethics.
Thank you.No way. I live in Saratoga and those are two breeders I would definitely not recommend for the same reasons posted above^
Be careful. There are a handful of very prominent breeders around here who do not have very good ethics and don’t complete necessary health testing requirements.
