Frontline Reaction ??

About 2 weeks ago I put Frontline (only a half dose) on Piper because she was begining to have a problem with a few fleas. Last night I noticed several pea sized lumps that reminded me of warts in the area where the Frontline was applied. They dont appear to be irritated, no scabs or anything like that, but still it seems more than coincidence that these have shown up and I find it disturbing.

Any thoughts, advice, experiences to share?

Any other reaction other than the bumps? This was the only thing that I could find on their website. http://frontline.us.merial.com/products/products_faqs.asp#q16
Since it has been 2 weeks since the application, I would think it is not a allergic reaction or you might have seen something before now. But I would ask your vet about it and double check.

I agree with Carol. I would check with the vet. My friend's dog had a very severe reaction from Frontline (anaphylaxic shock) so I know some dogs do not tolerate it very well. Did you see her scratching after you applied? Is there any reason why you only applied the half of the dose? Just wondering :)

I was using a similar product on Ruby and for up to 2 days after application she just wasn't her usual self. Didn't eat and lethargic. I stopped using the pesticide and started with an all natural tablet called Flea Treats. They are a natural flea and tick repellant with no side effects. You can check them out at:
www.fleatreats.com They have an added benefit of B vitamins which makes her coat shiny and the shedding has cut way down.

Hi, Sometimes she starts scratching as though she has fleas, but after a through check I find no fleas or any evidence that they were/ are on her. I did the half dose just because in case there was a reaction it wouldnt be a full blown reaction.....
There was no scratching in that area, since she cant reach it anyway between the shoulder blades but I am going to take a serious look at that fleatreat product, and I will give the vet a call tonight.

When Midas was still pretty young I used Frontline on him. He had a habit of sleeping on his back in his crate which was just adorable. Early the next morning I heard him whimpering and got up to let him out. He was still lying on his back so I opened the crate and urged him to come out.

He couldn't! He was stuck to the bottom of the crate! The Frontline had somehow reacted with the plastic which literally melted and my puppy was adhered to the crate. (I laugh a bit now but at the time I was horrified.)

Well, you can bet I wasn't going to continue to put a product that melted plastic on my dog's tender skin!
