Hey
I've got a 5 month old puppy, Max and I was thinking about cleaning his ears with hydrogen peroxide solution for the very first time. Any pointers on how I should do that?

Outside.
I use water and vineagar mixture, warm, squirted into the ear from a dish detergent type bottle. Hold the ear flap down, massage the skin around the bottom and back of ear for a minute, then let him shake it out. Do this two or three times for each ear depending on how dirty they are.

If the ear is not infected, what I do is use a very fine cloth, like a baby's washcloth, wet it and wring it out thoroughly. I wrap it around my pinky finger, insert it very gently and sort of work my way down as far as is comfortable for the dog, and then gently wipe it around in the nooks and crannies. I usually do this when I'm giving them a bath or they've been swimming, as some water has gotten into their ears no matter how hard I try to keep it out. It keeps their ears quite nice. If there is an ear infection, I do a more complete rinsing with vinegar/water or a commercial ear preparation, or medicine from the vet.
