Is it me, or is this a really bad choice for a keynote speaker for this conference?

Come join us for the 13th Integrative Health Conference.* This year’s conference theme is The Human-Animal Bond and Its Impact on Health.* Friday evening includes an exciting keynote address by Wayne Pacelle, President and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). Ouch, too bad you couldn't get everyone to boycott the keynote speaker. That might open their eyes a bit.
