Oh my goodness...Yogi is officially my Marley dog.
My wife went to the local playground with Yogi, her friend, and her friend's kids. The park has a section for dogs to romp around. Anyway there was this other family there with a Lab. The Lab took a poop and they picked it up with there poop bag and tied it up. They placed the poop bag on the ground next to there picnic bench, probably waiting until they would leave to throw it out. AND GUESS WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Yogi proceeds to do a sneak attack and snatch the poop bag out of nowhere. We've worked really hard on drop it, and he does it with most things, but from the familys reaction of chasing him and trying to get it. "Drop it" went completely out the window. So there he is running like crazy with 3 people chasing and my wife screaming at them to stop chasing him. Finally he stopped and lied down as he sensed my wife was angry. As she's approaching him, the father of the other family tries to come from the other direction to help. Next thing you know "Gulp!" he swallows the freaking bag of poop.
She immediatly rushed him to our vet. Once we were there the vet gave us 3 options. 1. Induce Vomiting, 2. Sedate him and use a utensil to pull it out or perform surgery. 3. Take him home and wait it out.
They took a X-Ray and it showed something in his stomach, but you couldn't really tell what it was. He told us if we waited for it to pass it could tangle with his small intestines if the bag wasn't chewed up. After thinking it over we told him to just induce vomiting.
An hour later we get a call..."Yogi just vomited the entire bag, it's still tied up and all the poop is still inside it" Wow "Yup, the bag is totally intact without a mark or hole in it. None of the poop came out". I told him that he's a typical Golden Retriever he has a soft mouth for carrying things lol.
So the daily adventures of Yogi. Swallow an entire poop bag without chewing, and then throwing it up exactly the same way it came in. Tied, closed and filled with poo.
He's going to give me a heart attack.
