My dogs don't sleep in Bed with us but have their dog beds next to my side of the bed. Bogart does come up in the morning sometimes after my hubby gets up and we have a snuggle session. Our bed (queensize) is just not big enough for all of us. ZsaZsa is 14 years old and I'm always worried when I have her on the high bed that she will jump off by herself before I can take her down and she could hurt herself. We snuggle together on her bed on the floor, she likes that.
Yup both of them sleep in the room with us. Usually when I go to bed, a couple hours after the wife, both dogs some in the room and Jake jumps on the bed and Ace plops down on the floor. Sometime during the night Ace jumps up and joins the mix. Many times during the warm summer months they will go to the attached bathroom and sleep on the tile floor.
Gibson hops on the bed (Queen) at night as we go to bed and stays as long as he can before he gets too hot. And then every morning almost exactly at 7, he hops back up and stays until 9-9:30 AM, which is when I get up. Although recently, he's been coming up around 4 AM and staying until 9-9:30 AM. He always steps over DH to get in between us or all the way to my side. This boy needs to be touching me as much as he can.
We're going to go out this weekend to buy a lower bedframe so that it won't be so much stress for Gibby's joints to jump so high. We tried steps, but he won't use them. We're also looking into buying a California King size mattress and frame so we won't squish anyone when we bring our second dog sometime this year.
Fyodor, kitty joins in sometimes, too, when it's cold. DH and I love cuddling with the furries.
I will never forget this one lazy afternoon a while back... Jeff, Sammy and I got into bed for an afternoon nap, Sam got between us and I put my arm over him, Jeff put his arm over Sam and me, and we fell asleep in a big three-way spoon session.. and two hours later, we woke up in the same position. Best nap ever..

Awwww, aren't those the best?? We've had a few "family naps"... Our dogs love cuddling with either of us, but it doesn't compare to the contentment on their faces when we are both cuddling them at the same time
Every morning when I wake up right now, with Jeff being gone on deployment, I wake up to both dogs snuggling very close to me, Sam is usually sharing my pillow, Dillon is leaning against my body.. and its such a great way to start the day. They never let me get the "sleeping alone" feeling of having the boyfriend away.. they're great cuddlers.
i have to admit that harley usually begins the night in bed with us. hes in his own bed by the time i wake up though. he must just want to make sure we fall asleep comfortably!
hes pretty good about being invited up when we are in bed, but he knows we dont care when we are not. hes always waiting there when I get out of the shower
Neo sleeps with us every single night. He will start off snuggling next to me, then snuggle with his daddy. After his individual snuggles he likes to get between Chris and I and get snuggles from us both at the same time. Some nights will get on the floor and sleep there through the night, but most nights he just stays in the bed with us. Chris and I wouldn't have it any other way. Any time I go and take a nap, he is right there next to me in the bed. I love the feeling of him next to me. Almost as much as I love snuggling with Chris :
We sleep with Emma, too, and lately she chooses to sleep between us, head on pillow, on top of the blanket, of course, not underneath it. Best feeling ever! She also kisses us good morning and she also uses us sometimes as her pillows. Not that we mind, anything for our little princess.
Mine sleeps w/me! I love him! I have a double size bed and Howie is 13 mnths and 73lbs and takes up the entire other side. My little 8lb cat Trixy sleeps on what is left on the other side of me in the bed too. I keep sheets on his side since he sheds so much especially right now, its March. March madness for the hair!
Tia usually sleeps in Julia's room (on the bed), but if she stays with me, she is on the bed. Mila prefers to be in her own bed next to mine, but she's welcome to sleep with me if she wants to.
I personally am unable to sleep with my dog (I wish I could because I love to cuddle with her forever, just can't sleep that way)...that being said, my opinion is there is no "right" way to do things...if you are happy and your dog is happy, it doesn't matter if your family does not understand. Trust me, though, as someone who gives free roam to the furniture & beds for her dogs, many people do not understand, because they would not want this - they do not see how you do. Goldens are so sweet and such good friends to us, it seems pretty normal to me that you would like that comfort as you sleep.
