Ok Max has been licking herself ALOT. She is not normally one to get hot spots. She has had a couple but both stemmed out of not ordinary conditions.
Tonight DH was on the floor with her and noticed her hair was getting thin on her shoulder area where she has been licking. Normally she will lick to "thin" hair but not to the skin. Then he noticed what could be a small hot spot on her inner back leg. He got some witch hazel to wipe it with, and discovered what looks like a puncture wound but I have NO idea how she could have possibly done it. She has not been around "sharp" things. It is a circular hole in her thigh. We will take her to the vet, but I do not think this is an "emergency" situation so I may wait until Monday, unless of course we develop other concerns. The area around the "hole" is not overly red, it is not oozing, it does not look "bad" other than it is a hole that should not be there.
I was wondering if you folks have some thoughts for us with this until we can have the vet look at it and give us some professional thoughts? We will keep it clean, and I know we want to keep it open in case it is a puncture. Any ideas would be greatful. She does not seem particularly bothered by it.
Thanks.
