Just counting today - a postcard, a shoe, a pencil, a hairbrush and most recently a penny. And the day is not over yet and this list really doesn't do Max's resourcefulness justice.

Every day I'm pulling out item after item of my goldens mouth and I'm thinking I'm not alone in this - so here might be a good interesting and everlasting thread idea.

Maevis appears to be genetically incapable of passing an acorn or a sock without picking it up in her mouth. The acorns she swallows whole, so I usually don't get to pull them out. The socks I have always managed to pull out.

I found out this year that acorns are bad for dogs. I had to keep my back deck swept in order to keep Rookie from snacking on them.

Oh, and I pulled another kleenex out of Rookie's mouth today. Blech! Kleenex and napkins are the only things he won't drop on command.

Ooooh. Straws. Cigarette butts. Socks. Most recently, a *LIVE* mouse. The other day Mojo had that guilty look on his face, I see something hanging out (thinking it was a twig or something) so I yanked his mouth open and a LIVE EFFING MOUSE JUMPED OUT AND RAN AWAY.

Mojo loves paper and kleenex as well. Oh, and qtips. I have no idea how he finds them, but he does.

Well....Riley is only 5 months old but I'll give it a go: thong underwear (not mine!), cat poo, numerous rocks and leaves, a dead frog, many shoes, dirty tissues, feminine hygiene items (not mine!), books, a roll of toilet paper and the list goes on...........

I noticed Dooley working something in his mouth, I pulled out....A SEWING NEEDLE! I freaked out, as I don't really sew and I am really careful about putting those out of reach, in a drawer. DH must have got it out to sew up a dog toy.

One of my cats had to have a sewing needle with the thread still attached surgically removed.

Lucy picked up a poppy the other day, pin and all. I just about had a heart attack! We got it off her very quickly and luckily she was ok. She also loves paper of all kinds to shred and eat. Today she figured out the toilet paper roll...

I wouldn't say I really pulled this out of her mouth, but I think it fits here. We have a bottom freezer in our fridge. She decided a couple of weeks ago, while DH had the freezer open, to see what it tasted like and LICKED the sliding rails, which are metal. Poor little girl got her tongue stuck and before DH could do anything to gently get it off, she had ripped it off. She was fine and ate her lunch like nothing had happened. Of course, this is the day we're supposed to go to the vet and get her puppy shots

Sierra can't pass up a pine cone without grabbing it. She loves socks, towels, her poo, leaves, branches, leash, shoes, slippers and anythin she thinks she shouldn't have in her mouth.

Just a warning.... pennies can be very toxic to dogs as they can lead to zinc poisoning which in turn can lead to hemolytic anemia among other problems. http://www.petplace.com/dogs/zinc-toxicity-in-dogs/page1.aspx I would child proof your home for the pup just as you would a toddler.

Molson's favourite thing is the rocks in our backyard about an inch in diameter. Everytime I catch him with one, I put it in my desk drawer as it is right beside the back door where he comes in. I have about 50 in there.

Other items include, but are not limited to:
-a boutonniere with pin (can't remember the last wedding I went to, or why we would have on in the house?)
-my underwear, my bra
-a now-empty bottle of MUSTARD! (With leftovers all throughout the house:doh::doh:)
-live mice, dead mice (that the cat left on the back porch)
-live birds, dead birds (again, from the **** cat)
-my cat's head (still alive and attached to body:))
-the carpet
-static cling sheets from the dryer, lint from the dryer (his favourite)
-cat turds
-soil
-raspberries and strawberries from the garden (we still have some, somehow?)

Molly had a live spider in her mouth this morning! In the past I've pulled socks, legos, kleenex, barbie pieces, and rocks out of her mouth. She has recently learned about mushrooms in our yard so we have to go check the yard after every rain now.

Oh man the WORSE was yesterday. :bowl: We back up to common ground. We have a privacy fence though. My bf calls and said guess what Luck just found in the backyard.:confused: A USED condom wrapped in newspaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck:

I brushed his teeth a few times when I got home!

Oh apparently this condom user is quite "active". On our walk I saw two more of the same thing! Luck did not get them!

Molly doesn't steal anything but the one thing that she takes in her mouth and makes me sick everytime I pull it out is her own furr! She takes her own hairballs and just carry it in her mouth... And sometimes tries to eat it. Maybe I should vacuum more... :p:

Rocks
Mud
Clumps of sod
Grass clippings
Tissues (usually used... yuck!)
Plastic bags
Pinecones

... but mostly rocks. Oscar goes nuts over them!! If you can catch him before, you can often get him to "leave it"... but once it's in his mouth, you usually have to fish it out. And he is quite an expert at hiding it in the back of his mouth. We are working on "leave it" & "drop it"... but it's going to be a long road ahead I fear!

I don't even bother fishing leaves out of his mouth anymore, he usually drops those anyway. It's the rocks he really wants...! Sigh.

oh good I'm so glad JP is not the only one who is obsessed with socks, acorns, sticks, screws, pens, paper, fuzz, rocks, leaves etc... It's funny though, He always has a guilty look on his face when he walks by me that I instantly know he has something he isn't suppose to have.
