so heres the thing... Two nights ago I was down in my basement.. I came up stairs and got to the top and when I open the door Chloe was acting funny.. She was coming towards me lifting her paw and not putting it down.. Very weird..

I thought okay, she hurt herself, or Cedar hurt her. Chloe has arthritis so Im used to her gimping around occasionally, but this was different. She wouldnt put her paw down.. So I bent down and pet her and grabbed her paw and moved it and felt it but nothing, but she wouldnt put it down.. By this time she kinda had her head turned and tilted to her left and wouldnt really look at me..

I called ryan upstairs and said theres something wrong with Chloe but I dont know what.. He came upstairs and I walked past Chloe into the living room to see if they were roughousing or what could have happened.. I turned to watch Chloe walk towards Ryan and she was walking very strange. Almost like she had no balance, kinda swaying.. and she again wouldnt put her paw down, but this time it was her other paw and she was putting weight on the other one no problem.. Now I was confused, was it her leg, her back, was she having a seizure..

Ryan made her go into the kitchen, she stilled walked funny, and he just held her and supported her standing for a few minutes and pet her, then I made her walk a bit and she was back to normal.. and she has been normal ever since with all that walking stuff, but now today she wont eat.. Breakfast or dinner, sniffs it and walks away.. and thats not like her. Normally I let them out for their morning pee, then they both run in and go straight to their dishes.. She seems normal with everything else, and she ate fine yesterday.. but I just dont know what is with her.. She will eat cookies and treats..

Did she have some kinda of mini seizure but was still concious enough to come towards us during it.. Or could it be something else... she is 8 years old now, and the thought of anything being wrong with her is heartbreaking cause she is my best friend..Ive had her since I was 15, bought her with my own money!

If she doesnt eat food tomorrow, Im taking her to the vet on Tuesday... I cant really afford any vet bills right now with Christmas, and us doing home reno's lately!
Has anyone else experiences anything like this???

I dont think it sounds like a seizure but here is a website that talks about different kinds of seizures http://www.canine-epilepsy-guardian-angels.com/site_map.htm
It is good that you are taking her to the vet to see what could be going on. Maybe she has a little pinched nerve. See if she will let you put a heating pad on her back and see if that helps. It is good that you are taking her to the vet to see what could be going on with her. Hope that it is nothing serious and she just slept alittle wrong.

Actually, it sounds just like what Morgan does when she has a partial seizure. I would keep a close eye on her the next couple days. I would suggest you have a full thyroid panel done on her. Low thyroid can cause seizures.

My Rowdy had similar expereinces twice; both times he went to the Emergency Vet and the first time they thought perhaps poisoning but the second time they did neuro-muscular testing and found a seizing muscle in his lower-mid spine area. Muscle relaxants and physical therapy were needed.

Rowdy also had thyroid issues that were tested 2/year at least.

My GSD Nikki would have seizures and the first couple she had sounded like that. It would seem as her front paw or paws were caught in her collar, when they weren't. Other seizures were a lot worse.

I would take her to the vet and see if you can find a cause.

If it is a seizure, and if she is mobile during them, consider new rules around stairs...leash her and escort her up and down every time... if she is somewhat aware and able to move, but her body doesn't cooperate...I would be fearful of her taking a tumble...

It could be a seizure but don't know why she wouldn't eat the next day. I'd definitely get to the vet.
Sending hugs and prayers.

Weird, now she is eating again today... and she still is normal with everything else...Im hoping to was maybe a pinched nerve in her back or something because she did have something wrong with her back months ago that was she given muscle relaxants for and shes has been fine ever since..

Ryan says he didnt see a head tilt, and who knows, I could have thought I saw it because when I see something wrong I look for signs like that. But i could have been so worried I thought I saw it but didnt!

Im going to call and talk to the vet today probably and just see what they say!

so I called the vet and one of them called me back.. I explained everything about what happened, and how she wouldn't eat, but now is eating today... she said it could have been a minor stroke or seizure but there is no test they can do to see if it was that.. she said we could do bloodwork to see if there is anything that may cause her to have any strokes or anything.. and that we should keep a close eye on her to see if it happens again.. that ones an obvious though.. lol
