Today Denver and Tucker both got to run outside for about 2 hours. It was 45degrees at around 2 pm but it was 10 degrees this morning. Denver is driving me crazy, bad idea to bell train, she figured out if she wants her diaper off she rings the bell only another week of it being on hopefully. They both had a short 15 minute training session.
She’s a smart girl haha! Does she like to play outside in the summer as well?

I went on strike today - 40+ mph winds making it feel 20 degrees colder than it really is. We didn’t go anywhere except for our own backyard, and in quick bursts. I HATE the winter. Stick a fork in me today, I’m done. I don’t know how those of you in even colder climates do it. Hats off for keeping all of your marbles. March makes me just want to get in my car and start driving south.

^^ ETA: Turned on the national news and looks like storms are bad in New England. Hope everyone up there is hunkered down, and retains power. I guess I have quite little to complain about in contrast!
I hope you get gorgeous spring weather soon!

Feels like it’s been a hundred days of gray here but we finally saw the sun! We did a lot of practice/training today but this part when we just enjoyed the sun and grass was the most fun.

We have big plans for a day off tomorrow to go to a new nature reserve with a friend and then practice being a chill dog at a coffee shop with an outdoor space. Looking forward to that!

@bitsybama you hate the cold. I'm the opposite of you! I'm dreading the warm - I become lazy when it's warm and hot 🥵 Warm weather to me means beach, sun and sand! I don't think the storms that are affecting the east coast are fun to be going through - sorry for the folks living there 😔 Meanwhile, here in the west coast in Portland metro area, we are experiencing summer temperatures again - it was a nice 59°F (15°C)! Seems it will be warm till Saturday.. We did some field training as per usual then decided to relax by a small field where there was a bench.. A gentleman decided to sit as well and Ramses did not react - long time since he's been in these situations since we left France/Switzerland.. So I'm relieved he's still able to "behave"...

I'm recycling yesterday's pic of our field training site.. there are some real live ducks in the stream.. he did try to get to them first but then eventually did focus on the bumper.

Today was our regular agility class! My husband was able to come watch for the first time and Hallie impressed him. My goal for next week is to remember to tape her first run and show you all how much energy and speed she starts out with. She was excellent about recalling to me tonight, but heavy on the extra obstacles on her way there. We walked one of our usual trails today and had a little bit of a weird encounter. A man with two goldens stopped to see Hallie and was remarking on how well behaved she was (because he didn’t see the beginning of her walk 😅) and said something about how she was around six months old… then proceeded to ask me how much she cost and say he sells golden retriever puppies for a significantly lower price and that he’s a breeder. 🫠 I need to keep a list of weird/rude/inappropriate questions people ask about my dog.

Thought I would share for fun.... :)

These pics were taken a couple days ago and being MI, we had "leftover winter" in the front (on the north side) of our property and spring in the back woods. 2nd pic is springy because no snow and you can see one of my rose bushes behind the dogs which is greening up and getting ready to bloom in a month or so... <B

People are the worst.... LOL.

Took my guys to the petstore this evening just to spoil them. Both guys were super quiet and serious walking around and checking everything out. They even poked their noses into the self-bathing rooms to very seriously sniff the tubs. 😅

One the petstore people came up to pet the dogs and love on them.... and told me how she loves golden retrievers because they are so sweet and friendly even though there just empty space between their ears.....

I looked at the girl and told her both dogs are obedience titled and have a lot stored between those ears.

Hearing this, the girl immediately asked the dogs to sit - repeatedly while they were waggling around her.

I waited a moment before saying "boys" and pointed a finger at them. And both immediately sat. <= And we moved on, but gosh people sometimes annoy me.

I feel like some people assume that because goldens are so happy and friendly that they must be dumb. People are fun, haha.

Hallie had a vet appointment this morning so we could get a handle on this seasonal allergy flare up she’s having with all the pollen out here. She already takes Hydroxyzine and now she’s going to take apoquel for a little bit and hopefully come off it when the pollen dies back down. I seriously love her vet. She took time and addressed a few unrelated concerns I have and she’s also just amazing with Hallie.

@Sankari we could never vacation together! :p

Today we had fun at a new nature reserve - sooooo many ducks in the water that looked delicious! There were large pedestrian bridges with metal grates for steps and Bits was a little apprehensive due to never seeing anything like it. But with some encouragement she hopped right on them. Once she conquers something she likes to show me that she can do it, over and over, so she was enthusiastically up and down and up and down and super brave after that - I love that trait in her.

Then we went to a coffee shop with an outdoor courtyard - they welcome dogs. So we practiced going in and out of the shop (new noises and smells, a Yappy McYapsalot little dog that lots its mind when it saw us, we just cruised on by) and then we settled down in the courtyard. That’s our first time in a place like that and I was really proud of Bitsy. She sat to greet some strangers and she was very intrigued by a toddler - they said hello from a distance (the toddler’s choice, she was ready to be gentle and accept pets).

Happy Friday, hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Lily is running the Q
This is the first series. She did a great job. Was the third dog to run this morning. Wind switched just a little giving up the long bird, test is much easier now.

She definitely wanted to but agreed to be a very good girl and stay on the banks! She turns 1 in April; she wasn’t ready to swim last summer, but I am hoping she takes to the water this summer.

@bitsybama hahaha 🤣🤣 Ramses and I ran away to the Arctic and escaped the extremely hot summer in Europe last year while my husband complained about how hot it was at work.. we don't have air conditioning in our offices and we will never have them - the entire office becomes like a furnace 🥵🥵

@chelseah - Hallie is so patient and serious at the vet 😅 Hope she feels better this allergy season..
