Hello All,
We are receiving our new 8-week-old female golden retriever puppy next week. Her crate, bed, and bowls are ready and waiting. Can you please recommend the type of collar and leash that is best for this beginning stage? Any and all advice is welcome!
Thanks!

Precious!

I'd personally go with a harness that clips in front. For leashes, a trainer I used to work with always stocked a bunch of handmade braided leather horse leads anywhere from 3ft-5ft long and I picked up several of them (and this was 12 years ago!) and they just get better with age. I much prefer them to nylon anything synthetic.

So adorable! But I would just recommend a simple nylon collar to get used to wearing one. I wouldn't buy anything too expensive, seeing as you will likely have to buy quite a few of them before she is full grown. I chose one with a metal clasp opposed to a buckle because it was easier to get on and off, because our girl hated her collar for the first while she had it and we would let her run around the house without it on. I would also recommend a Harness, for walking. Simple nylon will do, but a step in would be preferred. As for a leash, again a 6ft nylon leash should be sufficient. Make sure it is not one used for a large dog, because the clasp on it will be very heavy and weigh down on the puppy neck. You will have to buy a larger leash when she is about 5 months old.
Congrats on your little one's arrival!

I went to the Dollar Store and got a couple different sizes of the nylon ones with a buckle- they grow out of them so quickly so I didn't want to spend too much until I knew Molson wasn't growing anymore.
