Hi

Milly arrived safely in our home last month. I've been so busy introducing her to Josh (my Cavalier King Charles) and I just had the chance to post some photos of her now that they are spending more and more time together :p.

She is just adorable. Josh was a little annoyed by her bounciness in the beginning but they are getting better and better now. They will even sleep side by side now, after 4 weeks of careful introduction. Josh will still let her know to calm down everytime Josh thinks Milly is too bouncy.

She has been sleeping through the night in her playpen in the living room every since she arrives and I'm so grateful for that. She will sleep at around 11pm and wakes up at around 6.30am.

Here is photos of Milly on her first day at home, we got her at 12 weeks old.

Thanks :)

There were moments when I was worried if Josh will ever accept Milly. The integration is not entirely completed yet but Josh is slowly getting happier around Milly.

Here they are together.

Thanks guys :)

It took 2 weeks till Josh and Milly can lie side by side happily. Milly is all about "let's play Josh" and Josh is like "nooo... you are too rowdy, stop bouncing around!". They started with just 5 minutes of training time together (doing sit, down, etc), then 10 min, then 15 min and gradually Josh start to associate Milly with good things because Josh lovesss to show off his tricks. Now they are together for 2-3 hours at a time followed by 1-2 hours of quiet moments separated by baby gate for the both of them. I started to see brief moments of play every now and then.

Milly is a very sweet puppy. Milly is a singleton puppy and her breeder did a lot of to ensure she is well-socialised. Milly was with a litter of whippets for a few weeks and she also went to playdates with a litter of goldie puppies. She got to meet lots of known adult dogs from different breeds as well.

I think these pics were taken in the second week of Milly's arrival. Here they are asking for attention when I'm watching TV and the other one is Milly doing ballet in her sleep.

Milly is having diarrhea

Poor Milly is having diarrhea today. It started with soft stool and tonight it has become watery, 4 times tonight :(. She is still playing and doesn't seem to be affected till now.

I'm bringing her to the vet tomorrow morning. She just recovered from giardia about a week ago and now I think it's back. I hope it's nothing serious.

Is it common for giardia to come back after a week?

I bathe him yesterday and this is how Milly looks like when she is wet, she doesn't very happy.

I'm not sure about giardia; definitely talk to your vet. As a preventative, you could add a teaspoon of pure pumpkin to her food. It helps both diarrhea and constipation. You can search here on GRF for more info on adding pumpkin, and its benefits.

Thanks Wendy. It's midnight here in Singapore but I will go to the vet first thing in the morning and get some pumpkin afterwards.

Welcome to you and your dogs. I have a CKCS spaniel too. How old is yours? Mine was 9 years when we brought Tucker home at 9 weeks. She wasn't too interested in him. She made it clear that she doesn't "do" puppies! LOL. they have arrived at a form of peace. I ended up getting another Golden as a playmate for Tucker. That has worked out very well and taken a lot of pressure off Tess.

Thanks :). Mine is 4 years old and he will correct Milly everytime Milly tried to get him to play. And Milly's motto is "try and try again" LOL. After 2 weeks, Milly will only try once or twice every day and I do see a brief 2-3 seconds of play and Josh will stop Milly before she gets too excited. Did Tess eventually play with Tucker?

We just got back from the Vet. Milly was so good, she just stand and let the vet tech took a fecal sample. She was quite relax through the whole thing.

Her fecal sample came back negative for giardia and other bacteria but the vet said the bacteria that doesn't show. So, she gave Milly 10 days of antibiotic and something to stop the diarrhea. Well, the diarrhea stopped after the first round of medicine, so the medication must have worked.
