I recently purchased my golden from a breeder that insisted on taking puppies before 9 weeks, I did not know at the time that this was too early. My puppy has been having severe aggression issues since 4 months, he is now 7 months, I phoned the breeder and they offered no help. My pup has been in puppy school since 5 months, he goes to doggy daycare 2 times a week when I work, and all other days of the week is home with my husband and I with a large yard to play and run, he is brought running with us, camping and swimming but still has a very busy activity level. My vet reported it could be a neurological disorder but given he has already bit multiple times and broken the skin, puppy school/socialization and in home dog training has not helped the best thing to do would to be to put him to sleep and avoid the liability of him attacking someone. Both the vet clinic and dog behavioralist trainer have questioned the breeding of the dog and irresponsibility. When I purchased my pup the breeder had a total of 30 golden puppies, the grounds were very nice and clean, I met both the parent dogs which seemed like very nice dogs. I did see online that they were selling one of the parent dogs due to an "undesirable" personality but they would never specify what it was. I regret going to this breeder, I absolutely love my golden and have done everything under the sun to work with him to correct the personality issues but I fear this a much bigger issue than my husband and I can work through. Anyone who is looking into getting a golden, make sure you know what to look for in a breeder. I would hate for anyone to have to go through what I have gone through with my golden.
