Hi Everyone,

I have a friend who does a lot of hunting and I was wondering if it was safe for a dog to chew on a venison bone. If so what kind? Femur? and how would I sterilize it to make sure it is safe?

Thanks,

Matt

My guys get the leg bones although I pay close attention when it starts to get smaller as I wouldnt put it past them to swallow a piece larger than they should.
I trim/scrape the meat off the ribs for them but I kinda feel the ribs are a bit too small...Wouldnt worry about sterilizing....dogs and their canine brethern have been doing this for the last 20,000 years.
Oh, cut off the hoofs. Piper & Paco puked them both up after 2 days.

Here are a few pics of my dogs enjoying some venison legs and rib cage. My son is a hunter so he has promised me all of his "leftovers".

Sasha hasn't tried the venison yet, but as you can tell by the hunk of drool hanging out of her mouth, she's thinking about it:

Nash and the leg bone. He carried it around, like a stick, all day:
