Last June, I had written asking advice on bringing a puppy into a relationship with an older dog. Patsy was aloof and would leave the room the instant our new Irish Setter puppy Kelby came in. You all wrote that in time, they would grow into friends. After about 7 weeks, Patsy started playing with Kelby, and now they are fast friends. They wrestle, run and generally love each other. THey even sleep together, frequently with Kelby resting her head on her "sister's" back.

This weekend, we went to a dog event near us called Barktober-fest, for homeless dogs and good music. It was a beautiful autumn day, and we had the girls' photo taken. Here they are. It is amazing how tall Kelby sits. She was 7 months old yesterday and 50 pounds, and Patsy is 3 and a half years and 71 pounds.

I just had to share this picture!!

Very nice pic of your two, but then..... I have a special fondness for the name Kelby. Your Kelby looks like she's a leaner.....leaning into Patsy while the pic was taken.:) They both look great.

How cool! How did you come up with Kelby? When my wife and I decided that we needed a second dog, I had two ideas for a name: Dog and Aileron (I am a pilot). Carol said no way to either, so we got serious. I am a retired Army Officer, and a good part of my career was spent as an Arabic linguist. In Arabic, Kelb means dog, and the "y" sound makes it first person possessive. So in Arabic, Kelby means "my dog", but is sounds wonderfully Irish! And there you go!

I am so glad that they have become the best of buddies. That picture just makes you smile because of their pretty smiles but the leaning into each other.
