I am starting to get worried about Zippy, he is sleeping much longer in the morning and during the day. I don't know could it be because of us, we work till late at night (at home) like 4-5pm and he sleeps around 11:00-12:00pm wakes up an hour or two later sometimes he even plays (late playing doesn't bother us since we are awake)he wakes up at 8-9 am, he eats and comes to our bed where he continuous sleeping till 10:30-11:00 (sometimes even more, we wake up and he wants to sleep more!)...is that to much? he is still a puppy but even during the day he sleeps more, when he is awake he is active and very hyper outside. He is teething now could that also be the reason? Is he just adjusting to us or should I be concerned???

I wouldn't worry especially if he's eating, eliminating and plays normally when he is awake. He's still pretty young and growing fast. Plus now he's teething. It takes a lot of energy to grow and mature at the rate they are now.

Insomnia Puppy

I think I like that schedule better than ours. We tried to get out 10 month old to sleep in the bedroom. He's up every 1/2 hour to hour, jumping on and off the bed, sticking his panting face into mine with a sqeeky toy at 3:30am, refusing to sleep. I think he has insomnia. He doesn't sleep much during the day either - I don't know how he does it! I can't...

Dogs of any age tend to sleep a lot unless they have something they're doing. My adult dogs will sleep around 18 hours a day on a typical day. But if I'm at home doing something with them, or we're out training, they have no problems staying awake. My 4 month old puppy can make up to six hours awake as long as he is busy, but that's usually only on the weekend. As long as he has no problems being active while he is awake, I wouldn't worry.
