I'm in the market for a pair of thinning shears to help tame Caleb's ridiculous shagginess. But... I have no idea how to tell a good pair from a crummy pair. What should I look for? They don't need to be anything fancy, just something good enough to get the job done without him looking like my 5 year old nephew gave him a haircut. :p:

Thanks so much!

I have a pair of Rose Line model #82193 thinning shears that I love. I'm a beginner at grooming and these thinning shears are great and not a bank account breaker. I bought the Rose Line's thinking they would be temporary until I could afford the Chris Christensen pair but I'm rethinking this plan since I like them so much.

I got a pair at Sally's Beauty Supply for about $20. They work really well. I am sure that I will need to replace them at some point, but for now I am happy with them.

I hope this isn't going to be a dumb question:

Are you actually thinning the hair with these scissors? How do they work? Is there a website with instructions?
