I was searching through some old pictures the other day and came across these ones of my heart dog, Skokie. She was our family's 3rd golden and passed away much too young from Lymphoma :( In 2006, she died at 4 years old - a week before her 5th birthday, and from the time that we saw her first symptoms and her last day, was only about 10 days.

She passed away peacefully while at the cottage with my stepdad, in her favourite spot overlooking the lake that she spent every one of her summers playing in! Skokie was so sweet and kind, quirky and beautiful. It was really, really hard to let her go and our family thought we would never be able to own another golden, for the reason that we didn't think we could ever have another as sweet and loyal as her.

Thankfully the day came that we all decided we were ready for another dog and needed it to be a golden!

Anyhow, here are the pics!

Awwww she was too precious! I'm glad that you and your family have opened up your hearts to other goldens, I know how the pain of losing one can sometimes make it seem impossible... Thanks for sharing!! :)

What a sweetheart!!! To lose her that young is just devastating, but I'm so glad you've come to a point that you are honoring her by sharing your love with another.

Thanks guys! I think of her all the time, and we're also lucky because the next dog we got, "Skoker" had quite a few of the same relatives of Skokie. I think Skokie's sister is his mother or something like that, so we do see a lot of her personality and looks in him! :)

So sad to lose her so young, but she left you a legacy of her love by you allowing another into your heart. She was a beautiful girl

So sorry for your loss. You can see what a great personality she had from the photos.
