Concerning the lab video, someone please tell me that the lab in the video is not the example of what the lab breed standard is supposed to be.

It isn’t to anyone other than a confirmation judge.

A very accurate quote I read recently:
“There is nothing more destructive to breeds than the show ring.”
I’ll leave it up to the author to claim it.

Yeah I struggle to understand that. People KNOW it's so unhealthy and dangerous but do it anyway.

Unfortunately, there are many that do nothing with their dogs aside from go for walks, feed them and give them treats.

I have looked into getting a Lab but the pet lines are so fat. Hunting Labs have so much energy, although they look sleek and fit.

Not sure what you mean by "pet lines". Dogs are fat because they are over fed and under exercised. All well bred retrievers have lots of energy.
