Excuse the poor title of this post -- but it's exactly what it says; I've noticed that my 6-year-old golden girl's tail is thinning.

She has always had a thick, healthy tail. I never thought twice about it honestly ... until now.

On another note, she also has dandruff/dry skin. Every time I groom her (2-3 times a wee), there are dead skin flakes in the mix.

The two might be related, or not.

I've done some "google doctoring" ... maybe it's thyroid? Just seeing if anyone else has experienced their golden having hair loss like this.

It could be low-thyroid. Generally one of the symptoms is poor quality of their coat, perhaps some weight gain, etc. It definitely would not hurt to get a thyroid test done on her. At least then it could be something you either rule out or address. Good luck!
