Feeling very blessed. Lost my two Golden’s, Gunner in 2017 and Dublin in 2019, both of whom needed to be re-homed and I was the Lucky one to adopt them. They were both wonderful for the 5 & 8 years I had them!! I enjoyed the hairless existence not vacuuming daily for 4 years until the last 6 months when I felt I was ready, longing for a dog again, but being a “Golden Snob,” I kept holding out for a Golden but was tempted by a few Husky’s.
Absolutely out of the blue, through a past co-worker and my daughter (Bailey’s Mom), the co-worker’s family member finally came to the decision they needed to re-home a Golden his grandmother gave him. She purchased the dog as a puppy, after 3 weeks was overwhelmed, and passed him on to her grandson who managed until this past Saturday. With a two-year old first child, both working full-time jobs and two dogs under one years old, they knew they were stretched too thin & Marley wasn’t getting the attention he needed. Disheartened and puzzled over “how in the world will we find anyone who wants a young Golden,” (is he crazy!!??) when his mother-from-another said “Oh, I know who!!” And she contacted my daughter. In less than 24 hours from their decision to re-home, I came to met the dog and he’s BEAUTIFUL and they were crying as “I was PERFECT!” No….I’m BLESSED!! For the 3rd time in 12 years I’ve been able to adopt for free a purebred Golden. 💙💙💙Meet Marley, 10 months old!! He’s wonderful, gentle, smart enjoys our playtime, always touching or following me and loves our daily walks. Not even my dog for 48 hours and I’ve spent $300 in supplies and toys for him! Loved, not spoiled. And his previous family will always have “visitation rights and written invites to meet us at Bark in the Park every year 💙🐾🐕🦴. Going to fight against Marley picking up bad habits from my daughter’s 18-month old Golden, Harlow, when I dog sit for a week at the end if the month!!😡😮

That's great. It reinforces my belief that if you are patient the right dog just finds its way to you. What a mutual blessing for you and the handsome Marley!

Wonderful! I’m excited for you!! Lol about the bad habits. My little dog tries her best to teach my Golden bad habits, but the older he gets the more he resists. 😅
You know, the thing is, I began collecting potential names for a dog; I really liked “Marley.” The family I got him from changed his name from Marley to Thor. He seems to perk right up when I use Marley. 💙

This was a wonderful read for me and I'm so happy you managed to get another golden in your life! 😊 I bet you're just the kind of owner Marley needed and you are both going to have wonderful adventures 😀 I know that temptation with huskies.. I have been there and sometimes stray into that territory myself 🤣 Haha! Please keep us posted - he's beautiful boy!

What a handsome puppy! You will surely have your hands full but it will be worth the effort. Congratulations!!!
Actually, thus far as a qualifier, he’s a bit easier than my 18-month-old grandson, who I “have over to play ( NOT babysit)” during the week as his father works from home since Covid. Marley is used to a 2-year-old so it works!

Thank you Sankari; glad you enjoyed the post. While posting I was hoping I wasn’t droning one. Glad you enjoyed it and will keep all posted.

Gunner and Dublin came to me very well trained, so I may need some coaching. Today just before our walk, a no-pull harness arrived. In retrospect, I should have fitted it better and introduced it tomorrow. I’m likely to do more dumb mistakes.

Definitely not droning on at all.. I like to read everyone's experiences with their Goldens - they are all unique and inspirational for me... 😅
