As in finding good homes... yeah, the vast majority of my placements have been wonderful successes. Just ask Marlene (missmarstar) if she likes Dillon :p:

Some of you may remember Starlite. He was a fearful Kansas puppy mill rescue. I had him from four months to 14 months. I got him through most of his quirks, but the one he couldn't get past was little kids throwing rocks at him and fireworks at him at the ghetto apartment complex I lived in at the time. So, with much sorrow, I let him go to a home I checked out- with someone I somewhat knew and had dealt with before. I even stipulated that unless they were madly in love with him, I'd like to maybe have him back some day if I moved into a house on a quiet street or something.

Well, turns out for whatever reason, she sold him. Then she moved and I have no idea where she is. I thought my baby was gone forever. I cried, wished, hoped, and even as recently as last week, dreamed of him and prayed (yes, *I* prayed) that someday I'd get the call- that his chip had been scanned.

That day came yesterday.

My baby is home. I went and got him last night in spite of having the flu. I cried with joy! He did too. He had been given to various people, and ended up on a chain in a back yard- my worst nightmare- and had been attacked by another dog pretty badly. Eventually the owner gave him away- and called the number from his rabies tag from two years ago with me and I still have the same number. So he asked if I'd be interested, or knew anyone who would. ARE YOU KIDDING? LOL

So he is home. I bathed him, removed all fleas and ticks, groomed up beautiful, worked out the tangles, cut his nails, dewormed him, etc. Today I updated all his shots, and had him tested for heartworms. Sadly, he is heartworm positive  Those jerks! We will, of course, be taking care of this.

He is not going anywhere. I NEVER wanted to be without my baby in the first place, I just thought he would be happier in a house, and for a short while I think he was. We have a house now, and he's so happy to be here. And he loves my son. I thought he would fear his loud squeals, but he walked right up and kissed him in the face.

Welcome home sweetie. We have a long road ahead of us, but we'll get through it.

So, the moral of the story is- even experienced people can get hosed. But, I won't let it cause me to doubt all adopters. There are so many good people out there.

Oh, and microchip your dogs. Put tags on fosters and do follow ups. Sometimes you still get screwed- but this story has a happy ending in the making.

In the time he's been missing he's matured and grown into himself and his ears, and the tiny purple spot on his tongue got bigger too. Amazing what some grooming will do- he looks really beautiful after I finished bathing, drying, and grooming him. He's painfully thin, about 15 pounds lighter than he was at 14 months, but he'll gain it back! Here's some pics. He's checking out the new house- he's never been to this house. But he definitely remembered Rigby and of course me, and he went crazy! In the pic with two, Holiday is on the left and he's on the right.

Wow, Starlite is back!! He has grown up beautifully!!! You and him must be the happiest person and dog in the world!
I think so!!!

He has changed, matured, he was a VERY slow maturing, gangly dog! He still was all dork last time I saw him. Coat came in gorgeous, even with the poor care. Can't wait to see him fill out! Usually I have to take weight OFF of Goldens. This time I need to put 15 pounds on him, if not more.
