Hi everyone....I posted a thread about a week ago about my dog having stomach problems. The vet put him on this prescription ID dog food and he's been doing great on it. Do any of you have any suggestions on some non prescription sensitive stomach dog food?

I just posted about Fromm 4 star duck and sweet potato. My 4 month old pup was having a terrible time with his stools. I know it wasn't a bad bag of food either because I have a 5 month old that had no problems whatsoever eating it.
You can buy it in small bags too in case you don't like it and it is all stages.
It worked for me and I am singing it's praises.

I'd first pursue "why" he has a sensitive stomach. You'd be surprised how many dogs, especially young ones, have a low level of giardia and/or coccidia, too low to show up on fecal tests, that are causing the problem. Once that's cleared up, they can eat just about anything.

My Noah did and he had food allergies. So he is on Science Diet Z/D. He can eat other things, but the Z/D works best with him. He is fine with milk bones and treats, the nuggets seem to be the issue.

He gets some of Scouts nuggets from time to time and he has loose stool from that.

We also give him green beans and carrots.

sensitive stomach

My female has issues with soft stool, but I thought it was because she gets anxiety attacks; however, now I think it's genetic. I have her brother (same father) and every six months he is at the vet with diarrhea and vomiting. The vet said either ID dry food or I can try Nutro for sensitive stomachs. Has anyone had a positive experience with Nutro? They were both on the Nutro Large Breed dry dog food.

terrible stool problem

we have a seven month old golden puppy. For the past three months, once a month he had to go to the vet because of his sensitive stomach. We have tried differenet foods. Any suggestions? The vet said he might have Chronic Colitis. Has anyone's golden been diagnosed with this. We have to do a GI biopsy to determine if this is the reason

I have a goldendoodle with Colitis, but we did not do a biopsy. When she has a flair up we start her on Tylan Powder and she clears up in a matter of days. Once I knew what to look for, I was able to avoid a full blown episode.

Bella has a very sensitive stomach. I feed her Blue Buffalo Large Breed Puppy dry food. If I only feed her this, she is fine. No problems at all. If I try to mix in any kind of canned wet food or if she eats certain dog treats. She will have loose stools for about a day.

I'm having the same problems with my dog - He has been eating Canidae All Life stages for 1.5 years now. He is fine if we mix the I/D with it - but starts getting loose stools once he switches back to Canidae, usually within 10 days. Im sure if I go to the vet, he is going to recommend Hills Science Diet, which Im really not keen on. Not sure which food to switch him to - I know different foods can work differently on different dogs.
