Jax, my 6 month old Golden is a tremendously gentle soul. He does, however, get very carried away when he plays with his new 3 month old sister, Lucy. He is only trying to play, but the size difference is scary. He is 48 lbs and she is 13 lbs. He mouths her softly alot of the time, but when he gets over excited, he gets too rough. He hasn't hurt her at all, but she has let out a yelp a few times. I separate them at this point for a few minutes until he settles down, but then hes at it again. Other times, they will lie in the same room together and play nicely. Does anyone have any suggestions??

I would say just keep on doing what you are doing. It sounds like you are stepping in when you need to. But also keep in mind that she still has puppy teeth and may be hurting him, too. I have had fosters who have done that with my Danny (the puppy sitter supreme) and he tends to lay on them when they do. LOL. I have to make him get up sometimes because they are so much smaller than him. He doesn't hurt them, but it's his way of stopping the play.

Dogs do play pretty rough but they also have a pretty good natural system for calling for a stop if things get too rough. My two are the same size and play very rough sometimes but they seem to have things worked out and either one seems to be able to stop the action if things get too rough.
