I don't know where this goes, but I'm putting it here where people talk about breeders.

Leslie Blythe, a FORCE in Golden Retrievers, a kind, enthusiastic and helpful woman, a great breeder of Mariah Goldens in Wyoming, and a wonderful spirit, died today from complications from the flu.

The entire Golden world is mourning. This is a big loss for the breed. (And for me too.)

Go see your many, many dogs over the Rainbow Bridge, Leslie.

I am completely stunned and have been going around hugging my family members and those very close to me. It seemed like she was just posting comments elsewhere a few days ago and I was completely shocked when friends started sharing the news.

I've had a lot of admiration for her for the longest time. I'm very sick to realize what a big hole she's leaving behind. :(

Stunned is a good word.. how is it that someone is alive and talking her normal self and is dead two days later? I have had such a time today thinking about that shift to another dimension...

Sleeping In The Forest

I thought the earth remembered me, she
took me back so tenderly, arranging
her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds. I slept
as never before, a stone
on the riverbed, nothing
between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated
light as moths among the branches
of the perfect trees. All night
I heard the small kingdoms breathing
around me, the insects, and the birds
who do their work in the darkness. All night
I rose and fell, as if in water, grappling
with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.

I am still in shock. Leslie and I talked off and on, about puppies and breeding plans. She was one of the nicest people I know and her loss will leave a huge void. I honestly expected her to recover and be back on FB joking about it. It doesn’t seem right that someone so vibrant and so alive can just be gone so suddenly.

Her loss is just devastating.

The permanence of death is so hard to accept, especially when the person is so involved and passionate about life and the things she cares about. My heart goes out to her family and everyone she meant so much to. What a well lived life that she inspired such loyalty in her friends. I didn't know her personally, but I sure do know her name and her dedication to Goldens. I'm so sorry.

Very sad news. I didn't know her, but knew her reputation and her love for Goldens. She will be deeply missed.

personally it's been a rough several weeks. A very good friend passed away right before Christmas from lung cancer, expected but still very sad and another dear dear friend suddenly died New Year's eve. I am still reeling from this one, will be attending his funeral service this morning. Trying to wrap my head around it all and not having very good luck.

Thank you for posting... I spent hours on the phone with her as she was the stud breeder to my 1st purchased golden and was looking for another. What a wonderful person she was. We spoke again when I lost my beautiful girl. She helped me through the loss and shocked to know she is gone.
Prayers go to her family and the golden community as she will certainly be missed.

She sure did touch a lot of lives. I bet her husband would love a note from you. If her friends are this upset, I can only imagine how absolutely flattened her family must be.
