I just rescued a sweet golden girl from a bad situation. I got her from a breeder that wanted to "get her gone ASAP" according to her ad. She is 1.5 years old and just had a litter of 10 pups, 6 stillborn and the other 4 were taken away from her immediately. Fortunately, the breeder decided to retire her and I scooped her up right away. After taking her to our own vet we learned that she was severely malnourished, 20 pounds underweight and she has rocks in her stomach. I understand eating rocks can be related to malnutrition or even anxiety issues, both of which she is suffering from. The poor thing is scared of everything. I know it will take time and patience to help her through this but does anyone have any advice on how to help her get through the loss of her puppies? We have created a super safe place for her in our closet and she's already learned to go there when she gets nervous or scared.
