My girl has vomited twice this month in the morning before breakfast. After she seems fine and poop is fine too. I read this may be due to an empty stomach (even though she probably had a snack 10 hours prior). Anyone have experience with this?

The vomit attempt itself is loud, and is strange to see barely anything but some saliva and mucus with light yellow come out. I would think actual water should come out with it?

It is most likely due to an empty belly. My dog does this and the vomit is foamy, not a lot in volume, and clear-ish/yellow/white.

Ten hours is a long time to be without food - your dog's belly is definitely empty. Are you feeding twice a day? I feed my guy morning and in the evening, and he gets a few cookies right before bed. The cookies keep his belly full enough throughout the night so he doesn't feel sick and vomit before breakfast.

Otherwise you're looking at breakfast around 7am, dinner around 5 or 6...and then another 10-12 hours before breakfast. Give her some cookies before bed and the issue will be resolved.

Hi Ranger. Yes, sometimes a little foam and is clear with some yellow. She eats around 8am and 5pm. Treats throughout the day. Ever since the first morning throw up incident I've been trying to give her a treat before bed (10pm-12am). Glad to hear it's somewhat normal...

My girl has been having the vomits again (clear/mucus/yellow or light brown) 4 times the past 2 weeks - only in the morning. I even gave her a half a meal around 1am and she threw up a little at 7am. She used to be able to handle 11pm snack to 830am after the morning walk.

Energy and everything else is fine. I have been trying to feed her more meals but I feel she's starting to gain some weight! The only other symptom is sometimes at night she burps or licks her lips.

Vet appointment is not until Tuesday - any specific tests I should ask them to run? Instead of just sending me home with Pepcid AC... This many morning vomits doesn't seem right :(

THanks. maybe I spoke too soon though . Fed her at 5:30 she threw up undigested food at 9:00 (chicken and sweet potato). Vet wasn't too concerned about the morning vomits but now it's daytime and undigested...I guess I'll see what she has to say tomorrow.
