hey! I used to use synovi G3 soft chews, but then I received this from my supplier.

Greetings terra,

This is an important announcement for all SynoviG3 users.

SynoviG3 has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Our SynoviG3 stock is limited to what we currently have on hand. We are NOT receiving any new shipments of this product. The manufacturer failed FDA inspections and was forced to cease production indefinitely. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and have prepared options for you below.

My question is this. What do you think it the best joint supplement out there? I appreciate your thoughts and ideas on this matter. I have to give her something.

Rhut row, that is what I use for Trip, I didn't get that e-mail. I am curious as to what answers you get to this thread as well.

wow, now it makes sense that KV has been advertising discounted prices on SynoviG for the past two catalogs. I used to give it to my ol' boy on the advice of my vet, and have been giving the chews to my young golden because they contain a lot of good things; I also give her glycloflex, based on the contract as per my breeder. I loved SynoviG3 chews.

I googled the manufacturer of synovi and it got docked by the FDA big time--it was shut down--lots of violations--ugh.

I'm really sorry for the long link but there are several if you google TEVA Animal Health--they are the manufacturers of SnyoviG3 chews.

That's really scary. Hopefully, the adulterated status means it did not have the amount of named ingredients and not that it contained something harmful..... makes me think of the lead found in PetTabs. I've gotten to where I look for the NACS label or something similar.

You know, I'm going to call my vet on Monday and get her opinion and see what she thinks. I would think if these retailers are still selling their stock, that it's OK, but you can never be sure. I trust my vet, and if she's not selling her remaining stock, then I'm going to throw the rest of mine out, as much as it pains me, because it's not cheap.

Wow! thanks for posting the link. Now I am wondering if I should even finish off the ones I have?

Yes that is the Glycoflex 3 I am talking about. They have a starting dose and then a maintenance dose, however if I go down to the maintenance dose my old girl doesn't do as well. I get mine through KV Vet Supply.

I use Glycoflex III as well. Without it Bailey can't walk. He has luxating patellae, hip dysplasia and spondylosis. He does get pain meds too, but the Glycoflex III was enough on it's own for several years. I have him on the regular dose. The loading dose upsets his stomach after a few weeks. Interestingly, if he's off it he looses coat too. It's happened twice when we've had to take him off it for a while.

Taegan and Odin get it too. Odin as a preventative measure, and Taegan to (hopefully) delay arthritis from her injuries.

I get it at Entirely Pets.

I think the Dasuquin does a great job too. How do you feel about the avocado extract in there? My vet swears it's fine, but avocados are on my "poison"list for doggies.

Sophie is on Dasuquin with MSM and has been for quite a while. Have tried Glyco-flex III without as much success as the Cosequin/Dasuquin lines. She's doing great at almost 10 and having had developing arthritis since she was a year old. I get her supplements at Entirelypets.com, too.:)
