Since you have seen a pack of coyotes in the area, DONT ever leave her outside by herself. If you do the pack could gang up on her and hurt or kill her. Especially if they are hungry.
If she is having pain when picking her up, then I would contact the vet to see if there is any health issues going on with her. Also ask the vet about the obedience classes for training with her. What area of the country are you in and maybe someone has a good training place with her.

If you have coyotes nearby I'd never let her out alone. You need to have her on a leash.
Is it possible to fence part of your yard near the house? That's what we did when we first moved here since we live in a rural area. I've seen coyotes and fox.

Coyotes can get over a fence-it happened around here, the coyote jumped the fence and took a small dog. You can get "rollers" to top the fence which are supposed to keep the coyotes from getting over the fence.

Everyone is right-she needs to be on a leash when it's potty time or play time. Coyotes can be deadly to dogs.
