Puppy pyoderma

2853 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Olivemydogs
hi all,

I got my first golden, Olive, 7 weeks ago. She has been wonderful addition to our family. However, at her first vet visit she was diagnosed with pyoderma. I did the bath medication for weeks and now she has a larger skin infection spot. My biggest question is this likely to be a lifetime issue? I bought her as a performance dog and breeder says their is no history of skin problems in the line. She is fed raw and raised as naturally as possible. Any thoughts?

I too wondered about her symptoms- if her belly/vulva has little pimples- she'll outgrow that tendency.

Eww! That doesn't look like what I hear called puppy pyoderma.
I'm used to seeing little pimple type breakouts on girls' bellies. That almost looks like flea dirt around that sore, though I am sure it isn't.

i thought it might be the pyoderma spreading in a larger staph infection. Shes going to the vet tomorrow. She doesnt have a fever and there is no redness or swelling in the area. I guess I am more worried of the long term implications of ongoing skin infections. I have a dog with miserable skin issues and it breaks my heart to see her suffer. :(
