I'm thinking of naming my singleton puppy (male), Noah. His dad's name was Moses, so there's a bibilcal tie there. However, I was wondering if the "Noah" might confuse the puppy with the "No" command whenever you have to use "No". Winston is our second choice. What do you all think? He's unique in many ways and was born as a singleton. Would like to name him this weekend. Here are some pics of him.

Thanks for the ideas!

How about Caleb (dog in Hebrew), Cyrus, Jacob, Jaden, Jericho, Jonah, Levi, Micah, Samson, Soloman.....

Just a few suggestions!!! Good luck. Keep us informed.

If you like the name "Noah," then just don't use the word "no". I personally just use "eh eh" when I'm trying to interrupt/redirect my dogs.

In the big picture, tone of voice plays a huge role in how a dog understands something. My guess is you wouldn't be saying his name in the same tone as you'd be using "no!" if you use "no!" as a verbal correction, so likely there's little chance for confusion. But like I said, if you want to remove even the slightest chance, just use something other than "no".

Congrats on the puppy! He's super cute! :)

I totally agree. I use ACK! when I want my dogs to stop doing something right now. I rarely ever use the word no. You know I am going to be bias toward the name Noah because I liked it in your other post. Winston is a good name too but with daddy being Moses, Noah just seemed right. He will no the difference from voice intonation.
