HI! My daughter is going to be getting a Vizsla puppy Oct 21. We have a question about crate training and Im hoping my friends here can give us some much needed advice.
She has class 3 days a week..one of the days she will not be able to get home for 6 hours and knows this is too long to leave the puppy in the crate. Her boyfriend will be coming mid way through to let the pup out, but in case something happens and he cant, we are not sure what to do....should she leave the divider in the crate and hope for the best ( she knows she will come home to a mess) or should she take out the divider and put a puppy pad in the far end of the crate, or should she not put her in the crate on that day and confine her to a puppy proofed bathroom with a puppy pad?
Thank you so much for your help and advice! :D
Once we get her I will post some pictures! We went to the breeder and saw them today, we just dont know which female she will be getting.

If you can get those first few weeks in with the mid day break in your daughter may be OK. 6hrs is pushing the envelope but with the right pup it may work. The obvious better solution would be to have someone else come in to let the puppy out for 1/2 hour or so.

:( Im kind of sad that only one person so far had any advice for us. I know this isnt a golden, but I know there are alot of knowledgeable people on here and I was hoping for some good advice and opinions...I hope that the lack of responses is because I posted late and its still fairly early....we really would like some input on this....so if you have any ideas..please help! :crossfing

It's early! lol

For my sanity, and easier clean up, when I had to leave very young foster puppies longer than they could hold it, I left them either with a towel/pad in the back of the crate, or in a puppy pen with paper/towels on one side. But it doesn't seem to matter, they walk through the mess or lay down in it in anyway! Unfortunately your daughter will get to bathe a puppy the days she can't be let out a couple of times. I'm assuming the puppy is 8 or 9 weeks old, so she can't hold it much more than half an hour at a time.
