Pud and I are happy today: her friend Smoke, a big smokey-gray husky, is moving in next door permanently.

Smoke stayed with our neighbors temporarily last winter when his owner was out of town, and the Pud and I took him out skiing all the time (see pics).

Then his owner was back, then she was gone again (divorce, new BF down south, a messy sort-of back and forth), her ex couldn't keep Smoke, so at some point we heard he was at the local shelter and up for adoption. Problem is, my neighbors travel a lot and are about to go away for 2 months. So we discussed what to do: Smoke will be their doggie but Pud and I will take care of him and run him when they're gone. So he'll get lots of attention and some couch snuggle time too. yay!

I bet Pudden is happy to have her friend living by her. Smoke is lucky to have two loving homes. Thanks for taking him in. Looking forward to all the great stories and pictures.

I don't know about double the power for skijoring. The pictures look like Smoke needs some instruction on holding up his end of the pulling:) Congrats to you, the Pud and your neighbors on working out a great situation for Smoke!

I'm so glad Smoke has a home and you get to share him! How awful that he was at the shelter.

So true. He does look a "little" less focused than Pudden in the skjoring pic.
congratulations on your new neighbor and part time boarder.

haha, you guys are very perceptive. He is indeed a little less focused. He is very powerful and pulls with great enthusiasm, but then gets distracted and wants to hunt things along the trail. But he's learned the ropes from Pud and will no doubt improve more this winter.

It helps when I put a neckline on them, but then he pulls Pud around a bit when he goofs off, so I don't do that a lot :)
