Private foster(s)?

Since losing Sierra in July, I finally have been considering taking in a friend for Lance.
I've been in contact with a human that may need to re-home his 10 yr old, female, Jessie, because the human has health issues. My husband has agreed to this, but Jessie's human needs a couple weeks to get things in order, etc. and set up transportation.

Today, Lance's groomer, called and said she knew of a local family that needs a long term foster for a golden that's about 2 or 3 years old.
Sounds like a move is needed and the rental doesn't allow pets.

I'm thinking of offering to foster, as an "emergency only" for them.
Husband is really not for the long term foster thing.
But if Jessie comes to live with us, 3 Goldens is not going to be a option.

I'm almost scared to even offer, I don't want to get into a place where I have 3 to take care of! Or there might be 2 of us looking for new home (that includes me!:uhoh:)
I told her to tell them I wouldn't be able to even consider anything until after next weekend. Lots of prep for a dog park event next weekend.

Do I remember right, was Lance a long term foster who stayed?

Many times a long term foster becomes a permanent member of your family. I agree with the comment that 3 is really not much more work than 2. What would be more work is a 2-3 yr old, active young dog, if you have been used to more sedate dogs.

How long term would the young dog be, and do you already have a commitment to take Jessie?

Yes, Lance started out as a 6 month foster!
Sierra was active compared to Lance, so for me I'd be ok with a younger one, just might be a lot for Lance.
I think the young golden would be a year, which is huge for a dog to get into a routine and then get pulled back out again. My opinion anyway.
I guess I'll leave it until I hear from Jessie's owner on what's going to happen with her first. As I have said we would take her in if needed.

I agree that you are such a kind person. Would it be possible to suggest a rescue, for the 2 or 3 year old. It's ashame Jessie's owner can't make the decision more quickly, so you know what to do. I agree that we couldn't have 3 dogs either, especially financially speaking!
