We have gotten a new dog recently (our first) and she's pretty well trained already. She's 4 yrs old. However, she's had an accident in the house. We did as was recommended, take her out and clean up with odor remover etc. The issue is that we don't completly understand why she had an accident when we took her out frequently through the day. We noticed that she likes to go to the same spot on our yard but lately she hasn't been going because she seems tense about our neighbors dog. She starts tugging on the leash to go towards their yard or might even growl a bit bit doesn't relieve herself even if its been hours. We're thinking maybe take her further away from the neighbors yard where it isn't visible? But she already marked the spot she likes to go to. Any opinions? She seems anxious towards the neighbors and doesn't relieve herself when we go out. Also, how much water should a dog have? We think she doesnt have that much. Thanks a ton.

Leave a bowl of water available until around 8PM so that it is less likely there will be an accident during the night.

Perhaps you might speek to your neighbor and have both dogs on leashes and introduce them to each other. This might help to lessen the anxiety.

Ben has several different places in the yard where he likes to go. He also has sort of a shy bladder - it takes a while before he'll do anything, and he really prefers to go while on walks rather than at home. If anything distracts him, he won't go at all. When we first got him, there were a couple of accidents because we had to learn to read his signals and he had to learn that he needed to be pretty obvious about when he needed to go out. At first he would just sit across the room and look at us. Now he comes over and nudges us with his nose or paw. We've also learned his schedule and he's learned ours.

Bud has no specific spot in the yard, he just goes so I'm kinda worried about that. Leave the water out until 2 hrs before you go to bed than take him out before you go and 4 hrs later and before you go to work.
