Hi everyone! New Golden Retriever mom here. We recently got him and I'm worried about the way he is sitting. I'm in Thailand and the retrievers here are known for having hip dysplasia, so I'm being extra careful and taking note of how he is sitting and walking. I really hope this is a normal way of sitting for them, but I am a bit worried that he is leaning onto one hip while extending the other back leg. If you have a minute, please have a look at the picture to see how he is sitting and let me know if you think it's normal or if I should be worried. Thanks!

It's called a puppy sit for a reason. Perfectly normal.

Oh man he is so cute! I know nothing about how they should be sitting, but mine sat like that and then slowly slid her way down the floor because wood floors mean no grip. Still happens to this day. =)

It’s normal. My boy has sloppy sat since day 1 (still does) and he’s OFA good

This thread made me look at old baby pictures of Lucy. 🤩 Sloppy sits, ballerina front paws at 45 degrees, eyes a little wonky, etc. All good after a few months.
Your new puppy is adorable! He looks as if he knows you are typing about him. 💖

Thank you so much for the reassurance everyone! The breeder asked us to keep him on foam mats to protect his hips, but he's chewing on the mats so we removed it from his pen
