Poor Einstein he had to go back to the vet today after hours too.Poor babies ears were swallen. When he got attacked by the other dog last saturday he had to have his ear wraped up. We left the ear wrap up for a few days then took it off on tuesday. Since tuesday his been shaking his head on and off all day everyday. The vet said thats nothing to worry about. My poor baby has an allergic reaction to something the vet thinks maybe a bee. His ears are very heavy and are quiet hot. He got an injection to help with the swallening and also to stop the allergic reaction. His also got to take tablets for a week. The vet said if his ears are no better by wednesday he wants to see him again. He couldn't get a real good look down the ear as Einstein wouldn't allow him and growled at him a couple of times.

Einstein hates the vets if i step foot in the vet he trys to walk back out and often not trys to pull me out the door. Cause of the paralysis ticks and being proke at and had alot of injections what not he now thinks of the vet as a bad place.

Which part of his ear is swollen? If it's the actual ear flaps then the head shaking could have caused a haematoma (sp!) This happened to my other dog and is not serious (if that is what it is)

Hope he feels better soon, although growling at the vet not good at his age... you might have to take him along to the vets a few times without any treatment, and make it a more pleasant experience, or he may have issues around vets - obviously this could set up a life-long reaction to a place/person he routinely needs to visit. A good idea to nip this in the bud.

Do you regularly examine Einstein? What I mean is, do you look in his ears, eyes, feel his feet (between toes etc), check his mouth? Could you take something out of his mouth if he picked up something he should not have? I feel strongly that if you have a pup you have the best chance of getting them used to being examined.

Poor baby, hope he feels better soon!

Poor Einstein!!! I hope he feels better and his ears are going to be ok. I felt so bad for him when he had that bandage on because of the attack. So is he all bandaged up again or did they leave it open?
Maybe when you take him to the vet have them give him some treats and then just leave. So he will start to associate the vet with good things.

poor guy - he's going thru a bad spell!

Sadie (lab) hated, hated, hated the vet (had something to do with having her temp taken) -- we'd just stop in, get treat, worked up to going in the back & getting weighed ..... she now loves, loves, loves going to the vet

Poor Einstein! I hope the vet gets it under control soon.

Abby always loved her vet till she had the surgery to tack her stomach. Now she starts shaking in the parking lot and all through any exam. I have tried treats and she gets to sit in my lap for any procedure, but you can tell she is terrified. The vet and techs feel so bad for her and always try to make it easier, but treats can only trump a bad experience so much.

They left the bandage off the vet said he doesn't have haematoma so thats a good thing i check all 3 of my dogs over everyday. I've tryed to get Einstein liking the vets again by going in there and getting the staff to pat him and give him los of attention. My guys work better for pats and praise then treats. He loves the attention but it didn't stop him hating the vets. He allows the vet to do what they want but yesterday cause his ears were swallon and sore he wouldn't allow it so gave a warning. I was holding Einstein's head but the vet understood he wanted nothing put into his ears so he back off. He sat on the ground and felt the bottom of his ears canal he can't feel anything inside.Said his ears are very clean. His ears seem to be going down now poor baby still shaking his head tho. I'm keeping an eye on them to make sure no liguid builds up in them.

Gunner loves his vets but hates their treats, ever seen a dog spit a treat out across the room? He cracks everyone up in the room when he does it
